Punish Man Who Allegedly Sold Dog Meat and Used Slave Labor

Stray Dog

Target: The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro

Goal: Hand out harsh penalty to man accused of killing dogs and holding workers against their will.

Several dog carcasses and workers were found by authorities to be locked up together in a cage. If the man who is allegedly responsible for these crimes is not given the harshest punishment under law, this horrible abuse of workers and animals may encourage others to act in a similar manner.

Law officials found the dogs frozen in a box at the Rio de Janeiro snack bar in Brazil. Evidence suggested they had been brutally hit over the head. Meat from these dogs was allegedly used in a type of food known as a pastel. The stuffed pastry, however, is usually made with ground beef. Owner Van Ruilonc admitted to killing the dogs for this purpose. Ruilonc’s excuse for committing these very inexcusable acts is that the dogs were previously strays.

Workers were not only locked in a cage with the box of dogs, but they were also forced to work eighteen hour days. In addition, the cage was found by authorities to have been chained and padlocked.

Sign this petition and demand this restaurant owner get the severest punishment possible under law if he is convicted and found guilty. Treating any human being or animal in this manner is beyond disgusting and is simply unacceptable.

Dear Chief José Mariano Beltrame,

Workers and dog carcasses were found locked inside a cage at a Rio de Janeiro snack bar in Brazil. The man who did this needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law, so others are discouraged from emulating his heartless behavior.

Dogs were used in pastries known as pastels and were sold to people who had no idea this was the case. Restaurant owner Van Ruilonc admitted that he found the dogs roaming around on the street. Unfortunately, officials suspected that he had hit the animals over the head extremely hard in order to kill them.

Workers were also forced to work eighteen hour days and could have very easily gotten sick working in such unsanitary conditions. In fact, investigators were overwhelmed with stench from rotting animals and had to immediately leave the area.

Thinking about these people being locked in cages and forced to work against their will personally makes me sick, as does the realization that the dogs this man killed experienced severe amounts of pain before dying.

For all of these reasons, I urge you to recommend this callous and sick monster be given the harshest penalty possible under law. No animal or person ever deserves to be treated with such inhumanity.
