Applaud Firing of Vet Who Allegedly Shot Cat in Head With Bow and Arrow

Target: Dr. Bruce Buenger, Co-Owner of the Washington Animal Clinic

Goal: Praise clinic for firing veterinarian who intentionally shot a pet cat with a bow and arrow and bragged about it.

A veterinarian has been fired after shooting a cat with a bow and arrow and bragging about it on social media. Dr. Kristen Lindsey, who was formerly employed at the Washington Animal Clinic, posted a photo of herself holding a dead cat with an arrow through its head. The photo’s caption read “the only good feral cat is one with an arrow through its head! Vet of the year award gladly accepted.” The photo sparked a social media firestorm, and when word got back to her employer, she was quickly dismissed from her position.

While Dr. Lindsey claimed that the cat was feral, an animal rights group later discovered that it belonged to an elderly couple. Tiger, the 6-year-old tabby, had escaped from their home earlier that day. In this case, it is clear that the veterinarian made no effort to follow standard procedure for questionable animals, which generally involves calling a Humane Society or Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals representative to trap the animal and transport it to a shelter for evaluation.

Veterinarians dedicate their lives to the care of animals and have special training in how to properly deal with stray and feral animals. This savage mistreatment of an innocent cat is not only unacceptable for a veterinarian, but a breach of animal protection laws. Officials in the county where the animal was shot are currently investigating the killing and plan to press charges. Sign the petition below to applaud the Washington Animal Clinic’s quick dismissal of this cruel and thoughtless veterinarian.

Dear Dr. Bruce Buenger,

A veterinarian was recently dismissed from her position at the Washington Animal Clinic after posting a photo of a dead cat that she claimed to have shot. Accompanying the photo were callous remarks about the value of the cat’s life. While Dr. Lindsey claimed the cat was feral, it actually belonged to an elderly couple and had escaped their home only hours before being killed.

Veterinarians have extensive training in how to deal with stray and feral animals, and in this case, Dr. Lindsey should have contacted an animal shelter to capture and evaluate the animal. We, the undersigned, thank you for dismissing this callous veterinarian who displayed a disturbing sense of pride after killing an animal.
