Ban Monsanto-Made Herbicide Linked to Cancer

Target: Gina McCarthy, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States

Goal: Prohibit company from using deadly chemical in pesticide products.

The main ingredient in Round Up is thought by two major health organizations to cause cancer. If the EPA does not ban this chemical, many more people may soon die.

Both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) have recently stated that the main ingredient in Round Up (a pesticide distributed by Monsanto) probably causes cancer. Because this is the case, the EPA is considering banning this nasty chemical for the first time in history. Food giant Monsanto was not happy to hear the news because if glyphosate is banned it will lose billions of dollars in sales. In fact, the harmful chemical is found in more than 750 products.

The decision to possibly ban glyphosate may have come as a result of a Monsanto employee recently revealing that the company has an entire department in place for the sole purpose of responding to science that they find faulty. Not surprisingly, Monsanto is currently demanding that the WHO and the IARC take back their claims that state glyphosate likely causes cancer.

Sign this petition and tell the EPA that just because Monsanto does not care about families who have lost their loved ones to cancer doesn’t mean that the rest of us don’t. If the EPA does not ban this chemical then they will prove to care as little about these deaths as apathetic Monsanto executives.

Dear Ms. McCarthy,

Glyphosate has been stated by two prevalent organizations to likely be carcinogenic. If this chemical is not banned, it is highly possible that several more people will die from cancer.

Monsanto is only claiming that glyphosate is safe because it will lose billions of dollars in sales if the chemical can no longer be used. In fact, executives are so worried about this happening that they are now trying to bully the WHO and the IARC into taking back their claims that state there is a good chance the chemical can be linked to cancer. Just as bad, glyphosate has been linked to several other diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, cardiovascular disease and Parkinson’s disease–just to name a few.

Monsanto should not be allowed to continue using this chemical if there is even a small chance that people may develop cancer after using a product that contains it. Banning this product should therefore no longer be questioned.

For all of these reasons, I urge you to prohibit Monsanto from continuing to use glyphosate in its products. People’s health is worth far more than the billions of dollars in sales Monsanto will lose if this disgusting chemical is rightfully banned.

  1. Gina, you need to get off your lazy ass and do your job or step down so some one can do it for you. Monsanto has been poisoning our country for years and you just keep looking the other way. If you’re so afraid of them to stand up to this horrible company it’s time for you to seek employment else where!

  2. Dave Voisey says:

I’m a UK citizen but we all need to work together to stop Monsanto and the other companies involved in the production of herbicide resistant GM crops. They are ruthless, they claim to be helping to “feed the world” but their sole aim is profit without care for the damage they do.
They have the support of governments for some unknown reason and even support from such as the Gates Foundation in their attempt to trade in Africa.

  3. Stan Benton says:

Good luck. Sri Lanka banned RoundUp after 12 of their farmers using it died of kidney failure. Within a couple of days, Monsanto, and their ravaging lawyers and sellout American politicians intimidated Sri Lanka into dropping the ban.

  4. Catherine Alquier says:

Monsanto knows well now the danger of it’s products. They should take in court for judgment.
