Target: President and CEO of Etihad Airways, James Hogan
Goal: Ensure proper animal handling procedures are followed after losing a couple’s cat.
Etihad Airways recently lost a family cat while traveling from Abu Dhabi to New York. A young couple returned home from a multiple year work relocation with their cat, Felix, when the airline notified them of his disappearance. The cat’s carrier was severely damaged due to mistreatment on the part of Etihad Airways and he has been missing for several days. Urge President James Hogan to reform pet handling procedures to ensure an incident like this does not occur again.
Felix has now been missing for an entire week and even if he is found, there is no guarantee he’ll be alive and well. Like many other airlines, Etihad does not have proper pet handling procedures to protect living creatures. Instead, they are thrown around like inanimate objects with no regard for safety. This needs to change. There are no excuses for Etihad Airways or any other airline to mistreat a living being.
The couple in question paid well over one thousand dollars to have Felix properly transported. They did so under the assumption that this hefty payment would include consideration for their beloved family member. They are now reasonably heartbroken over the apparent loss of a family cat that could have returned home safely if employees had taken the proper precautions.
Please sign this petition to ask Etihad Airways to reform pet handling policies in order to properly transport every animal entrusted to them.
Dear Mr. Hogan,
The recent loss of a family pet in the hands of Etihad employees is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of proper regulation regarding the transportation of living creatures. I urge you to implement strict policies regarding the handling and transportation of living beings and vow to not let this happen again.
Choosing an airline is an important decision, especially when attempting to transport an animal in the safest way possible. A young couple trusted Etihad Airways with their family pet and paid a hefty charge to ensure his safety. Etihad did not deliver service worthy of any dollar amount.
The most important message to take from this incident is that proper regulation could have prevented this tragedy. It is up to everyone at Etihad to implement and follow strict regulations to make sure animals are treated just as well as their human counterparts.
Please reform current policies regarding the care of living beings at Etihad Airways and ensure this does not become a recurring incident.
