Praise Dismissal of Firefighter Who Allegedly Shot Dogs

Target: Union Valley Fire Chief Edward Ragsdale

Goal: Praise fire department for dismissing volunteer who allegedly killed neighbor’s dogs and bragged about it.

A firefighter has been dismissed from the Union Valley Fire Department in Royse City, Texas after allegedly posting an image on his social media depicting two dead dogs. Poster Tim Conaster, who claimed to have shot the dogs, accompanied the photo with a warning to other dog owners in the area “keep your damn dogs on your own property.” One person took a screenshot of the post and forwarded it to the department where he worked as a volunteer firefighter.

According to Conaster, the dogs, which belonged to a neighbor, were getting into his barn and attacking his animals. He asked his neighbors to keep their dogs off his property, with no success. The next time the dogs appeared on his property, Conaster reportedly took it upon himself to shoot them on the spot.

The small town Costaner lives in has its own animal control department, as well as dog pounds and animal shelters. There are various humane societies and Society for the Protection of Animals locations in close proximity. Conaster made no effort to call any of these organizations to report the owners or ask for help with finding a solution.

A statement released by the fire department condemned Conaster’s alleged actions. It went on to say that in accordance with Union Valley Fire Department policy, he has been let go from his position. The department has forwarded information to local authorities, who have opened an investigation into the matter.

Regardless of occupation, these actions were cruel and unnecessary. A firefighter, however, is held in high esteem within the community and should act accordingly. Sign the petition below to praise the Union Valley Fire Department for dismissing a man who allegedly shot his neighbors’ dogs and bragged about it on social media.

Dear Chief Edward Ragsdale,

Tim Conaster, a volunteer firefighter with the Union Valley Fire Department was recently dismissed after reportedly shooting his neighbor’s dogs and posting photos on social media, causing a public uproar. Though the dogs were causing trouble on his land, Conaster made no effort to contact any of several animal control resources available to him.

This behavior is unbecoming of a firefighter, who is held in high regard by the public. We, the undersigned, applaud you for dismissing this cruel and thoughtless man from the volunteer fire department.
