Target: Ivan Sanchez Lobos, Director of Parque Safari
Goal: Thank zoo for saving animals from deplorable conditions and educating the public about animal cruelty in circuses.
Parque Safari in Chile provides a home for rescued circus animals and locks willing humans in cages to raise awareness about animal cruelty. After people are locked in a large cage, they are driven out to an area where lions roam freely.
Lions walk on top of and around cages as humans observe them from inside. Sadly, since the lions were rescued from circuses, they have already experienced the harsh reality of being forced to live in small crates. Fortunately, the zoo provides these rescued animals with a massive amount of land and even lakes.
The lions must live out the rest of their days at the zoo, as they are no longer capable of surviving in the wild. One such lion had its claws removed by vicious owners. Because of the extent of the damage was done, the lion had to have its entire paw surgically removed. Now the lion relies on zookeepers for food, as it has lost the ability to hunt for itself. The good news is that this lion and many other animals now live better lives as a result of Parque Safari’s efforts. Sign the petition below, and let Ivan Sanchez Lobos and the zookeepers at Parque Safari know that all of their hard work to help formerly abused animals has not gone unnoticed.
Dear Mr. Lobos,
On behalf of the animal rights community, we would like to thank you for everything you and your zoo have done to help former circus animals. By providing these animals with a good home and educating the public on animal cruelty, you are making an immense positive difference.
Since these animals have dealt with the unfortunate circumstance of being locked up in small cages for long periods of time, it is gratifying to know they now have plenty of land to roam free. With over 1,000 visitors coming to your zoo each day, many people are gaining insight and awareness about the horrors of animal cruelty. As one woman appropriately stated, “I think it makes you understand what it’s like to be caged for animals, they must feel like us, frightened to be locked in without being able to get out.”
Although there are many more circus animals that need to be rescued, your zoo has provided a spark of hope in a world that truly needs it. Thank you so much for providing these animals with the wonderful homes they truly deserve, and for educating visitors about the harsh realities of animal abuse. Your dedication and efforts are genuinely appreciated by animal lovers everywhere.
