Target: Malcom Stack, Motomco President
Goal: Stop producing glue boards used to trap animals.
Motomco is a major producer of glue boards, which have been said by the Humane Society of the United States to be one of the most cruel ways to trap an animal. Animals often die from nasal passages becoming clogged with chemicals, yet Motomco manufactures thousands of glue boards each year.
Glue boards are used to kill both smaller and larger animals, with some glue boards being more than two feet long. Some animals have been found crying in pain, as they try desperately to escape the boards by biting into their own body parts. Many of these animals have also been found immersed in their own waste, while still suffering. In fact, they oftentimes become dehydrated and exhausted. Death is never quick and painless, but can take up to five days.
Even if an animal is set free after becoming stuck, it usually dies afterwards from stress and injuries. Domesticated animals are not far from harm’s way either, as even cats have needed surgery after being freed.
Do not let these animals continue to suffer. Sign the petition below and tell Motomco to stop producing this inhumane trap. Not doing anything about this problem means more animals will have their breathing passages clogged, and die painfully as they try to escape these horrific traps.
Dear Mr. Stack,
Glue boards have been said by the Humane Society of the United States to be one of the most inhumane ways to catch an animal. Instead of providing a quick and painless death, the animal’s nasal passages oftentimes become stuck to the glue board, making it impossible for it to breathe before reluctantly succumbing to its demise. Yet, Motomco continues to produce these traps by the masses.
Because glue boards don’t discriminate, threatened and endangered animals are also at risk of being caught, making the product adverse to the overall ecosystem. Even domesticated animals such as cats have gotten stuck on glue boards, and have needed surgery upon release.
In addition, the products are not too effective, since weather such as rain and environmental conditions such as moisture makes the traps useless. Furthermore, these traps do not terminate the problem’s original source, making it so the problem remains unsolved. Therefore, by producing glue boards, Motomco is voluntarily manufacturing a product that is subpar at best.
For all of these reasons, I urge you to stand behind this issue, and to stop producing this inhumane and faulty product, immediately. Let Motomco be the first company to set the example by doing the right thing, instead of remaining a company that follows rather than leads.
