Target: CEO of Apple, Tim Cook
Goal: Praise Apple for committing to using 100 percent renewable energy.
Apple, the massive computer corporation, has recently invested $850 million in a power purchase agreement for solar energy. Only three years ago Apple was listed as one of the “dirtiest” corporations, fueling its existence mainly with coal-fired energy. The same year this information was released, Apple committed 100 percent to renewable energy. This, along with the company’s recent investment, has earned Apple an accolade. Thank the company and encourage it to continue investing in a clean, healthy future.
Monterey, California will soon be home to a 1,300 acre solar farm, initiated by Apple. This massive solar field will power Apple’s new headquarters, among other buildings. For perspective, the energy generated from this new operation is enough to power 50,000 average homes. Apple’s current CEO, Tim Cook, has gone on record declaring climate change is imminent and the time for simply talking about it is over, urging that action must be taken now to make a positive impact.
Officially a climate leader, Apple is aggressively working to better its renewable-energy image, as well as the environment. Other corporations would undoubtedly benefit from following Apple’s lead. Sign this petition to commend Apple for its efforts to facilitate a clean-energy future.
Dear Mr. Cook,
Not too long ago Apple was falling behind in regards to using renewable energy. However, with the company’s recent $850 million investment in solar energy, Apple is now a leader in clean energy use. I am writing to thank you for your attention to the future of earth, and for your acknowledgement that change needs to happen.
You not only acknowledge a need for change, you are pioneering a movement to do something beneficial for the world. Apple is an excellent example of a company that doesn’t just sit back and let others change the world; you and your team are an active part in change. It is my hope that you extend your passions to other companies, whether they be competitors or partners. Climate change does not just affect certain people or corporations; rather, it is detrimental to everything alive. Ignoring this reality is useless and working together to make a difference is necessary.
Thank you for your climate leadership, Mr. Cook. I know that Apple will continue to challenge itself and other corporations to put their best foot forward. Please continue to lead Apple with environmental impact in mind.
