Keep Harmful Ingredients Out of Dog Food

dog food

Target: CEO of Mars Inc., Paul S. Michaels

Goal: Persuade Cesar Canine Cuisine to make healthier dog food.

Cesar Canine Cuisine is a popular dog food among smaller breed dogs. However, most veterinarians compare this food to the equivalent of human fast food. Many of their products have meat by-products, guar gum, xanthan gum and carrageenan, including the company’s original paté with chicken and beef. Urge the CEO of Mars Inc., which owns Cesar Canine Cuisine, to protect animals’ health and remove these potentially harmful ingredients from its products immediately.

Meat by-products are the remains from the slaughterhouses that do not contain muscle in it, such as spleen and lungs. Guar gum is made from a Guar plant and used as a thickener in food. High doses of guar gum may be linked to intestinal issues and cancer. Xanthan gum is also used as a thickener and is made from combining sugar and bacteria. Xanthan gum may be linked to intestinal issues. Another food thickener, carrageenan is made from red seaweed and may also be linked to cancer and intestine problems.

The harmful substances in Cesar dog food can have a serious effect on dogs. Dogs have a shorter digestive tract and a more acetic stomach than humans, which makes them easily prone to stomach problems. In order to try and prevent digestive issues, a dog’s food must be full of vital nutrients not hazardous bacteria and food thickeners.

By signing the petition below, you are helping to convince Cesar Canine Cuisine to use healthier ingredients when making its dog food products. Pets are like family for many and should be treated as such by dog food companies. We must stop Cesar Canine Cuisine from putting potentially hazardous substances in pets’ food.

Dear Mr. Paul S. Michaels,

The horrific ingredients in your dog food such as meat by-products, xanthan gum, guar gum and carrageenan need to be replaced with healthier ingredients, such as fresh vegetables and real meat. Guar gum and carrageenan have been linked to cancer and intestine problems, while xanthan gum has also been known to cause intestine problems. Including these potentially dangerous ingredients in your products unnecessarily risks the lives of thousands of dogs.

Dogs may love the taste of your food, but that’s only because it is the equivalent of human fast food. However, a dog’s stomach is very sensitive and cannot properly digest such harsh chemicals. By allowing your company to continue making dog food with substances that can cause cancer and digestive problems, you are potentially harming your customers’ beloved pets.

You need to take action now and improve the ingredients in your dog foods. By adding ingredients rich in nutrition, you will help many dogs live longer, happier lives. We, the undersigned, urge you to protect the health of pets nationwide by adding healthier ingredients to your dog food.
