Target: Jason Mier, Director of Animals Lebanon
Goal: Support draft law that will protect the welfare of live animals in Lebanon.
After three years of hard work and campaigning by the animal welfare organization, Animals Lebanon, an animal welfare bill which strives to protect the welfare of live animals in Lebanon was finally approved by the Cabinet. This is great news because it means that the animal welfare group’s hard work and dedication has finally paid off and the animal welfare bill is one step closer to becoming a real law.
According to an article from the animal welfare bill, the purpose of this law is to ensure the protection and welfare of live animals and regulate establishments which handle or use such animals. This law is the key to improving the welfare of animals in Lebanon where dog fighting is still very prevalent, though less publicized when compared to the country’s other animal welfare issues. If this bill is passed and becomes a law, issues ranging from the general handling of live animals to the giving of animals as prizes will be addressed. For example, the handling of live animals will receive more regulation to ensure the welfare of the animals and the giving of animals as prizes will we outlawed completely.
Without the efforts of Animals Lebanon, this animal welfare bill would not be as close to becoming a reality as it is now. However, this bill has not yet reached the end of it’s journey. Sign this petition and your full support regarding this animal welfare bill.
Dear Jason Mier,
I would like to congratulate you on how far you animal welfare bill has come. I understand you and your animal welfare group, Animals Lebanon, have worked tirelessly for over three years to ensure that the animals of Lebanon are protected. I truly admire the dedication your group has put into in fighting for the welfare of the animals in your country.
By implementing more regulations and responding appropriately to the many animal welfare issues, I believe that this bill will be very successful if it is passed and becomes a law. Those who mistreat or mishandle animals should be held accountable for their actions. Criminalizing these actions is the key to protecting the welfare of these animals.
I believe that this bill is the greatest hope these animals have to gaining the welfare they deserve. I would like to give you my full support regarding this animal welfare bill as it continues its journey to becoming a law.
