Target: Wayne State University student, Evan Leedy
Goal: Thank student for fundraising that earned a car for a man who walks to work.
Detroit man James Robertson walked 21 miles to and from work every single day for over 10 years. Thanks to the recent efforts of a student who heard Roberston’s story, he will never have to walk to work again. Please thank all of those involved in the fundraiser that earned a car for Robertson.
Robertson’s $10.55 per hour job has never provided him with enough to buy, insure or fuel a car, so for the last 10 years, he has been walking to work every day. This story caught the attention of Wayne State University student Evan Leedy who started a petition on GoFundMe to help the man buy a car.
Evan’s goal was originally $5,000, but the campaign far surpassed its goal, earning over $254,000. Now Robertson can not only buy a car, but also afford to maintain it and have money for other expenses. Roberston has also been getting all sorts of generous gifts and offers the last few days.
Leedy is thrilled with the support and is planning on making a book of the generous comments that supporters of the campaign left. Please sign the petition below to thank Evan Leedy and all of the other donors for their generous help in raising money for a very deserving man.
Dear Evan Leedy,
Thank you so much for your generous initiative to raise money for Detroit man James Robertson.
As you know, James has walked 21 miles to and from work every day for the past 10 years. He does not make a sufficient living to buy, insure or fuel a car. Your campaign has now raised over $254,000 as well as other offers and support. Thanks to your efforts, James can now buy a car and have even more to help maintain it and pay for other expenses.
Robertson is a local symbol of dedication, and his perseverance deserves to be rewarded. Thank you for noticing his passion and raising awareness for this man. Your efforts are being appreciated by many who have heard your story.
