Thank University for Swift Action in Sexual Assault Case

Stanford University

Target: Stanford University and bikers

Goal: Thank Stanford University and the bikers involved for acting quickly and responsibly in recent sexual assault case.

Nineten-year-old student Brock Turner was allegedly recently caught in the middle of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman on the Stanford University campus. Two bikers passing by noticed the events and chased Turner, holding him down until the police arrived. Facing expulsion, Turner chose to withdraw from the University, and has been barred from campus. He faces several charges. Stanford University and the bikers responded quickly and efficiently, setting an example for universities across the nation to follow.

The university has since launched its own investigation, in addition to that of the police. Turner faces multiple charges, and up to a decade in jail time. Not only will he never step foot on Stanford’s campus, but he also faces being placed on the USA Swimming Banned For Life list. His once promising future has taken a turn for the worse, as Stanford and its students work to ensure he is punished to the fullest extent for his alleged disgusting actions.

Universities across the nation have faced similar issues, though their actions differed significantly, especially when the suspects were elite athletes. Thanks to student protests and public outcry, universities are changing their policies on sexual assault, and are working to maintain the safety of their students.

Stanford has set an excellent example for institutions everywhere to follow, demonstrating a clear system of punishment, regardless of a student’s worth to the university. Students and parents everywhere are voicing their approval of the university’s actions, and the brave decision made by the bikers to go above and beyond to obtain justice. Sign the petition below to thank Stanford and the bikers for their recent actions.
