Target: David Seymour; Senior VP of Technical Operations at American Airlines
Goal: Halt the use of American Airlines planes that have not passed safety regulations.
American Airlines has been using airplanes that failed to follow the Federal Aviation Administration’s minimum requirements for flight. Worse, they’ve used illegal methods to force mechanics to approve these planes. Whistleblowers from two states have recently filed lawsuits against the company, protecting not only their workers’ rights, but the public as well, as unsuspecting passengers are put in harm’s way.
These brave mechanics have made several unsettling claims against American Airlines, describing the methods used to keep them quiet. American Airlines has threatened to fire and even arrest the mechanics that brought their concerns forward. The company insisted that if the mechanics involved the FAA, the mechanics would be punished rather than the company as a whole.
Thus far, the mechanics have done their best to do right by the public, their employment, and the reputation of American Airlines. They are constantly met with the pressure to keep planes running on time and put on a façade in order to deceive the public into a false sense of security.
Airplanes are by far considered the safest form of public transportation, and are often our only method of getting from one place to another. American Airlines has a responsibility to uphold these values, ensure the public safety, and treat their employees with the utmost respect. This company needs to change their ways, follow the FAA regulations, and vow to not punish employees who are simply trying to perform their job to the best of their ability. Please sign this petition to ensure the safety of the American people and the brave mechanics.
Dear Mr. Seymour,
It has recently come to the attention of the American public that American Airlines has been flying planes not deemed safe for flight. Not only are you endangering the lives of passengers, but you are severely mistreating your skilled mechanics. Passengers pay a hefty price to travel by plane and need to know they are receiving the best service possible. It isn’t fair to them, your employees, or the public at large to have faulty planes in the air.
Furthermore, your mistreatment of American Airline mechanics is unacceptable. These mechanics are doing their best to maintain safety for everyone, and should not be punished for doing so. They are protected under the Whistleblower Protection Act, making your alleged actions illegal.
I urge you to acknowledge American Airlines’ fault in this matter and immediately begin following FAA guidelines. Do not continue to single out employees that are brave enough to come forward with this information. It is in everyone’s best interest to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
