Target: Health Minister of Lebanon, Wael Abou Faour
Goal: Applaud the approval of ambitious food safety draft law, which will help protect citizens’ health and well-being.
A new food safety draft law will reform how the government in Lebanon handles its food safety issues. Although this is an amended version of a law created a decade ago, it is now more ambitious as it hopes to improve food safety and prevent any future food-related scandals.
The new food safety draft law will allow the Food Safety Lebanese Commission to oversee the enacting of the law, which means the Food Safety Lebanese Commission will be able to issue punishments during any emergency involving food that could endanger public health. The food safety draft law also aims to prevent any harm to humans, animals, or the environment. It states that all food must be safe and fit to be consumed by humans and that no damage is caused to nature or animals. The food safety draft law also touches upon topics such as farming, packaging, and water contamination.
With this law’s approval, the people of Lebanon will soon be able to purchase and consume food that has passed several health standards and requirements. Sign this petition and applaud the tremendous success of this food safety draft law.
Dear Health Minister Wael Abou Faour,
I would like to begin by congratulating you on your recent victory regarding the food safety draft law in Lebanon. The approval of this food safety draft law will help to ensure that the people of Lebanon are receiving food that has passed the health standards and requirements and is safe to eat.
I have read through the outline of the law and I am very pleased to see how thorough each section of the law is. Although the law has a very broad scope, it addresses the most important aspects of food safety such as farming, packaging, slaughter houses, and animals and the environment.
I would like to thank you and the many others in your special parliamentary committee for amending this food safety draft law and campaigning for its approval. Without all of your hard work and dedication, there would be much more difficulty ensuring the safety of the food the people of Lebanon are consuming. I hope you continue your efforts to further help improve the safety of food in Lebanon.
