Support Protest Against Inhumane Egg Supplier

Target: Wayne Hsiung, Co-founder of Direct Action Everywhere

Goal: Support animal rights activists as they protest the inhumane treatment of egg-laying hens

Animal rights activists from Direct Action Everywhere are protesting against the sale of seemingly humane eggs at organic food chains in the United States and all over the world. Direct Action Everywhere hopes to expose the truth in egg farms such as Petaluma Farms in Northern California. These egg farms claim to be raising egg-laying hens humanely since they fulfill the standard requirements for humane treatment, but Direct Action Everywhere knows that those standards are not enough to deem these operations truly humane.

Direct Action Everywhere has recorded video evidence of the treatment of egg-laying hens inside the Petaluma Farms in Northern California. Although the farm claims to have fulfilled humane standard requirements, the video evidence shows crowded hens, covered in feces, stacked on top of each other in wire cages. Some of the hens even suffer from feather loss or abnormal growths on their bodies.

Direct Action Everywhere is calling these humane standards arbitrary because it does little to nothing to ensure the well-being of these hens at all. The animal rights group stresses the importance of understanding how loose and vague standards of the poultry industry really are. Sign this petition and support the animal rights activists at Direct Action Everywhere as they protest inadequate humane standards in poultry farms and the sale of seemingly humane eggs.

Dear Wayne Hsiung,

Many consumers believe that the eggs they are buying are humane and organic as long as there is a sticker on the egg cartons that says so. I understand that you and your animal rights group, Direct Action Everywhere, have uncovered the truth behind these seemingly humane eggs.

In the video evidence you recorded from an egg farm in Northern California, egg-laying hens are shown covered with feces and crowded together in wire cages. Some of these birds are even suffering from feather loss or abnormal growths on their bodies. Apparently, the egg farm can still call its eggs humane since it fulfills the very loose and vague humane standards for the poultry industry.

I believe that your protests will help expose the whole truth about the egg-laying industry. It is important that the public understands exactly what they are supporting when they buy these eggs. I would like you to know that you have my support regarding this cause and I hope you continue your efforts to protest the inadequate humane standards of the poultry industry.
