Target: Kaiser Permanente’s Chairman and CEO Bernard J. Tyson
Goal: Increase quality of care for mental health patients by hiring more mental health care workers.
Recently mental health care professionals across California have rallied a strike urging Kaiser Permanente to address the current state of mental heath care quality. While Kaiser Permanente believes they are doing enough, many social workers, therapists, and psychologists argue that there is not enough staff to meet the growing demand for mental health care. This leads to a diminished quality of care and could have dangerous consequences.
Protesters aim to get the support of families who have been affected by this. Unfortunately, when individuals suffering from mental diseases do not receive adequate care, there can be severe consequences. In a couple cases of patients committing suicide, it was reported that they had not seen their mental health care professional for weeks. Those with relatives facing this possibility are also protesting with health care workers for more attention for these vulnerable patients.
Current mental health care workers do all that they can to provide service to their patients. However, with an increasing number of new patients due to the Affordable Care Act, they are not able to give patients the attention they need. In this delicate situation, lives are on the line. It has already been seen that when people do not get the care that they need, there can be dire consequences.
Please help improve the quality of services mental health care patients receive by demanding that Kaiser Permanente hire more mental health care workers. These patients pay for services and deserve the treatment that is necessary for their recovery. We need to relieve current mental health care workers by hiring more to help the growing number of patients. By signing this petition below, you will be helping to ensure everyone gets the help that they need.
Dear Mr. Tyson,
The Affordable Care Act has introduced many new patients into the health care system. But while there has been an increased number of mental health care patients, there has not been an increased number of mental health care providers to balance the situation.
In consequence, the quality of health service provided has been diminished. Mental health care professionals work tirelessly to provide service to all of their patients, but with more patients the process becomes longer and more difficult. With less people to treat them, patients end up waiting prolonged periods of time for treatment. Some suicides have been recorded to happen when the patient had been untreated by his therapist or psychologist for over a few weeks.
It is obvious that lack of mental health care can have serious consequences, yet the situation remains the same. I urge you to help save lives by hiring more mental health care providers. This will allow all mental health patients to obtain the service they deserve and prevent any more fatalities.
