Terminate School Administrator Charged with Animal Cruelty

Target: Raul Maldonado, Palmdale School District Superintendent

Goal: Demand that a public school administrator charged with animal cruelty be placed on unpaid leave

A Palmdale County School Administrator and her boyfriend have been charged with four felony counts of dog fighting, 17 felony counts of cruelty to an animal and one felony count of child abuse. Yet, she remains on paid administrative leave despite these heinous revelations. Protest the use of taxpayer money to support the legal defense of an effusive animal abuser and demand she be put on unpaid administrative leave.

Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Officers found a horse roaming the streets of Palmdale on Oct. 29, 2014. The horse was found to belong to Pauline Winbush and her boyfriend, Kevin Ray Williams, and its apparent abandonment resulted in a further search of the couple’s home. This search revealed 19 pit bulls with wounds indicating evidence of dog fighting being kept in crates filled with feces and urine. In addition to this animal abuse, the crates were kept inside the house where a young child lived. The dogs were recovered from the home, but had to be euthanized due to their poor condition, according to L.A. County Deputy District Attorney Lyle Riggs.

Currently employed as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for Palmdale School District, the fourth-largest district in California with 22,000 students, Winbush has been placed on paid administrative leave. Because the crimes the couple have been charged with are so egregious, we demand that she be appropriately put on unpaid administrative leave. Sign the petition below to urge the Palmdale Superintendent to relieve the taxpayers of financially supporting Winbush.

Dear Mr. Maldonado,

Recently you have had to place your Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources on paid administrative leave. As you might imagine, animal rights activists nationwide are appalled at the extent of her alleged crimes. This also comes as a shock to most readers considering her position in the County School District, typically an occupation that requires compassion for defenseless living things.

I surmise that you might have placed Pauline Winbush on paid administrative leave until the criminal proceedings reach an outcome and warrant a different response. However, I must implore to you change this decision and put Winbush on unpaid administrative leave. Absent the 22 felony convictions, Winbush has already committed seven L.A. County code violations including unsanitary conditions and failing to license and vaccinate the dogs.

Taxpayers should not have to continue to pay the salary of someone who has committed such horrific acts against another living creature. Please place Ms. Winbush on unpaid administrative leave immediately.

She’s hurt a lot of people too over all the years she has been head of personnel/human resources for PSD or maybe that would be in humane resources! How can you live with yourself Pauline! You’re going to have to do a lot of apologizing at the gates I suppose!

Abuse is the ultimate betrayal towards any living soul and absolutely heartbreaking all the way around. You simply can not do such a horrific thing without it killing the best in you. Period. But in case there are any out there who couldn’t care less about torturing animals – which says a lot about you, as well – then think on this: If you find people happily willing to hurt an animal in any way, they are actually finding a venue to act out their deepest, most inner evil fantasies of twisted sickness. There’s nothing more revolting than that. Aside from this, it has been proven repeatedly that those who have horrid intents with animals, get bored with them soon enough, ultimately leading them to bigger prey, moving up to people, in order to re-ignite and enhance the excitement that the torturing of animals used to provide. It’s simply never enough. And do not forget, these horrendous monsters also end up raising their children in “the game”, breeding evil, little sickos to continue on “the trade”… no doubt causing abuse in every level of their lives, as well. It’s just a revolting cycle that will never end until someone gets into it and breaks the heart-wrenching pattern. So, even if an animal is not of your utmost concern, then note that it will not stop there. It is just a start. And it is just a matter of time.

Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” – MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.; “I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs… (They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility we have no rights to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty….” – JAMES HARRIOT; “The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated… I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection of man from the cruelty of man.” – MAHATMA GANDHI

I’ve had my share of pitbulls and can honestly say that they are – by far – some of the most loving souls I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. It’s no wonder they were called “The Nanny Dog”, being a most beloved dog in England and the United States, left to protect children, back in the day – and WWII War Dogs, when we were smart enough to see the heroes within them. The amount of people they saved – and continue to save today! – is astounding… They were even given medals! On the rare occasion you will find someone willing to post from the many accounts of current day pitbull heroes saving lives, not just in war, but amongst the general masses; but what man has done – and continues to do – to exploit this incredible breed is horrendous. And even with all that has been done to them, the majority of pitbulls still have that amazing capacity to love that simply can’t be bred out of them, as much as so many have tried so hard to do with horrific abuse. Of course, you rarely hear about their capacity to love nowadays – even though they continue to prove it over and over again. We are a truly sorry lot as we continually strive to destroy and corrupt the beauty in front of us, and then insanely blame the ones broken down for what we have done to them, instead of placing the responsibility exactly where it belongs – on us.
