Praise Teen for Helping Classmate Diagnosed with Brain Cancer

Target:  Jesse Kaufman, 13-year-old boy

Goal: Praise a young boy for donating $5,000 of his own money to a classmate diagnosed with brain cancer

Recently, a 13-year-old boy in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, made a generous donation of $5,000 to aid a fellow classmate who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Donating such large amounts of money to non-family members is quite rare, especially by individuals at such a young age.

Thirteen-year-old Jesse Kaufman heard about Jasmine Boden’s illness through a local news article. At the tender age of nine, Jasmine was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called Chordoma. After Jesse read about Jasmine’s case, he donated the $20 that he had to Jasmine and wrote her a letter. A year later, they ended up together in the same class in the fifth grade, and quickly became friends.

For his Bar Mitzvah, Jesse received $5,000 and instead of spending it on personal expenses, such as video games and movies, Jesse decided to donate all of it to Jasmine. The donation will go toward a variety of Jasmine’s medical expenses, including the cost of traveling to a hospital for treatment.

Even after making his generous donation to Jasmine, Jesse is not stopping his charitable efforts for Jasmine. Jesse is currently working to raise more money to fund Jasmine’s treatments, and he hopes to make another $5,000 donation.

By signing the petition below, you are praising Jesse Kaufman for his selfless act of kindness of donating $5,000 of his own money to help a classmate who has brain cancer. Such acts of kindness, especially by a 13-year-old, are quite an inspiration for all.

Dear Jesse Kaufman,

Hearing about the large donation that you made to your fellow classmate, Jasmine, for her cancer treatment, was quite remarkable. Children at your age, and even most adults, would usually not think to make such a selfless decision to donate a large amount of money to help a non-family member in need. I am sure that your parents are very proud to have a wonderful son like you. You have shown that you do not have to be an adult to make such selfless and mature decisions, such as donating thousands of dollars to someone in need.

Thank you again for the generous donation you made to aid Jasmine with her medical expenses, and for continuing with the fundraising. I am sure that your donation will make a large difference in Jasmine’s cause, and I hope that she will have a speedy and successful recovery.

I agree with Kim Mason. Jesse is an amazing, one of a kind teen in this day and age. I have met very FEW selfless teens of today, but the number of selfish teens, that would never even THINK of turning money they have earned, or been given, to such a cause, instead, buying video games, extra clothing that makes them fit in, music, etc.. I hope that this is just the beginning for Jesse! I hope that his very adult decision to give the money he had to a cancer patient rolls over into his adult life, and he becomes an advocate to many things that need his generation to fight for, that are changing and being taken away, right under our very eyes, without our knowing because we don’t keep up with what’s happening.. I hope he makes many in his generation aware of the things that’s happening to our world and work together with others to save our world from the greedy people working to destroy it all for the mighty dollar. He makes thinking of the world being run by his generation, hopeful. I believe he WILL be the change he wants to see in the world. What an awesome teen! Jesse is showing already, the man he is becoming. WTG,Jesse!
