Praise Start-Up for School Protection Invention

Target: Christopher Kapiloff and Jeff Besse, founders of School Guard Glass Company

Goal: Applaud a start-up company for creating durable glass specifically to protect schools from outside attacks

Due to past school shooting incidents, the safety of schools has been reevaluated and revamped to improve security for students. Security devices such as surveillance cameras, panic buttons, and even smartphone apps designed to initiate a school-wide shutdown, have been seriously considered and incorporated by many schools. The safety of schoolchildren is a top priority in the school system, and with this in mind, a new start-up company is aiming to sell high-quality, affordable glass for schools and other institutions to utilize for heightened security.

Christopher Kapiloff, one of the founders of School Guard Glass, was troubled by the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting incident, especially taking note that the perpetrators had forced their way into the school by creating a hole in one of the school windows. Shortly after the incident, Kapiloff thought of working on safety glass that would delay the time that it took an attacker to enter a school, in order to give police and other rescuers enough time to effectively stop the attacker.

The School Guard Glass company, based in Adams, Massachusetts, features glass that functions like bulletproof high-security glass. It took the Sandy Hook Incident perpetrators three minutes to get into the school through a window. The School Guard Glass product can withstand attack by gun-shot, sledgehammer, and other tools for ten minutes at the least. In contrast to existing security glass, School Guard Glass costs a fraction of the cost per piece, and is relatively thin and light-weight, making it easier to install than the heavier, ridiculously expensive alternatives.

Please sign the petition below to praise the founders of School Guard Glass for inventing practical and durable security glass for schools to protect against outside attacks. Such methods of defense are necessary to ensure the greatest safety of school children and other individuals in school buildings.

Dear Mr. Kapiloff and Mr. Besse,

The safety of school children is of great importance, and with the devastating previous school shootings, the importance of school security is all the more apparent. Your products at the School Guard Glass start-up will certainly revolutionize the installation of security measures in schools throughout the nation.

Although some companies specializing in security glass exist, their products cost a fortune compared to your affordable glass products. Compared with other glass products, your relatively lightweight and affordable glass will make it easier for schools to install protective measures.

Thank you again for working towards creating high-quality, affordable security glass for schools. This will no doubt make a positive impact on the security of schools nationwide.
