Target: President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan
Goal: Don’t allow terrorist group Boko Haram to use children as suicide bombers
Boko Haram is a terrorist group that has used its religious creeds to spread terror and mayhem among the people of Nigeria. The group is responsible for the massive abduction of 200 school girls from their dorms, and use children as suicide bombers. One 13-year-old girl who was captured by Boko Haram told her story to the media, describing how she was threatened and then eventually escaped her captors. No parent wants this life for their child and it is imperative that the president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, stop this terrorist group from abducting and killing more children.
The story of the 13-year-old girl is a harrowing one, but one that is often repeated among other young suicide bombers. The girl told media outlets that her father had given her up to Boko Haram and was then given a choice: become a suicide bomber or be killed at the organization’s hand. Two other girls were also told that all three of them would go to heaven if they committed this act. The 13-year-old girl managed to escape through the busy market where she left the bomb in a cart before it could detonate. Unfortunately, the two other girls who accompanied her were killed in the process.
Boko Haram has been called one of the deadliest terrorist groups of our time. The group continues to harass, murder, torture, and abduct women and children for its cause. The group is against educating girls; its name literally translates to “western education is a sin.” No terrorist group should have this much power over the government. Tell President Goodluck Jonathan to end Boko Haram’s reign of terror and the killings and abductions by signing this petition.
Dear President Jonathan,
Recently, the story of a 13-year-old girl being given to terrorist group Boko Haram has surfaced over media outlets. Her father was a part of the organization and he gave over his wife and daughter for the group’s cause. The daughter was instructed to be a suicide bomber, but escaped before the mission could be carried out. Her story is not uncommon; many children have been recruited to this organization for the sole purpose of dying.
I implore you to stop this group from killing more innocents. Boko Haram’s mistreatment of civilians has spread across the globe. You alone have the power to stop this violence.
