Target: Anthony W. Batts, Baltimore Police Commissioner

Goal: Terminate officers who dragged and tasered a woman who was filming instance of police brutality

Recently, white police officers in Baltimore violently dragged a black woman out of her car, tasered her, hand-cuffed her lying face-down in the street, and called her “a dumb bitch” for recording an instance of police brutality. It remains to be seen whether instances of police brutality are increasing or just being reported more, but no matter the case, action must be taken now to protect people from the people who are supposed to be protecting them. The officers involved in this altercation must be terminated from their positions immediately and forced to relinquish any and all pensions they have been afforded.

The altercation began with the victim filming the arrest and brutalizing of another person. When police told the victim to stop recording, she argued with them that it was her right to film them. The police then crossed to her car and began to tell her to pull over. When she attempted to do so, police officers began shouting profanity at her and physically assaulting her by dragging her out of her car and into the street. Once out of the car, police tasered her and restrained her while she screamed, “are you serious?” The officers then proceeded to call her a “dumb bitch.”

When police realized that this unbelievable sequence of events had all been captured on the victim’s smartphone, they attempted to delete it to cover it up. The file was saved and now the victim is suing the Baltimore police, but a lawsuit is not enough. These officers need to be held personally responsible, not just professionally. They must be terminated without their pensions and they must face criminal charges for their assault of this innocent woman. Please sign below to show solidarity with those who have been assaulted by police and to call for action to be taken on their behalf.

Dear Commissioner Batts,

Recently, a group of your officers violently dragged a black woman out of her car, tasered her, hand-cuffed her lying face-down in the street, and called her “a dumb bitch” for recording an instance of police brutality. The entire altercation was caught on video and cannot be ignored. The officers depicted must be identified, terminated from their positions without pensions, and be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is a clear-cut case of police brutality and abuse of power that cannot be allowed to stand.

I am calling on you personally to make a difference in this country by making an example of these officers. White police officers cannot be allowed to continue abusing black citizens. The time for action is now and I beg that you take the necessary steps to be a part of the solution to this problem.

Sounds like this Officer does not find it imperitive to proceed within the law enforcement training protocol. Police are suppose to be highly trained and are expected to perform according to specification. A severe breakdown in the actions of law enforcement within the system must immediately be addressed and consequences must be administered if it is to be an efficient and highly functioning system of law and order.
