Success: Pakistani Activist Receives Nobel Peace Prize

Target: Members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee

Goal: Thank members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee for nominating Malala Yousafzai for the Nobel Peace Prize

The Pakistani girl who was shot in the head in 2012 for her activist efforts recently received the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala Yousafzai was the target of Taliban shooters for her promotion of educating young girls in Pakistan. She awed the nation with her dedication while facing death threats, even inspiring writers at ForceChange to petition on her behalf. Not only was Yousafzai successfully nominated, but she won the Nobel Peace Prize and received it to thunderous applause.

Yousafzai began her advocacy for the education of young girls in Pakistan at the young age of 11. She soon began receiving more media attention for her views, which caused the Taliban to take notice and to shoot her in the head on her way to school in 2012. Miraculously, Yousafzai survived her injuries and gained even more notability across the world.

Young girls in places such as Pakistan are denied their right to an education because they view education as a dangerous path to unrestrained freedom for women. Being outspoken on the matter can have dire consequences for women. It takes a very brave person to acknowledge this danger and continue to spread the message in a peaceful way. Yousafzai is the voice of many young girls who simply want an education like their male peers but are denied this basic right.

Yousafzai’s bravery in the face of constant danger and her continued advocacy for a woman’s right to education is no doubt the reason she received this award. Please sign the petition below to thank the Norwegian Nobel Committee for nominating Malala Yousafzai for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dear Members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee,

Thank you for listening to us here at ForceChange and all across the world in nominating Malala Yousafzai for the Nobel Peace Prize. Ms. Yousafzai undoubtedly deserved to win this prestigious award for her brave and inspiring advocacy for the education of young girls in Pakistan.

Yousafzai is a hero and a promoter of equality. Thank you once again for nominating and awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to a young woman who has inspired many across the globe to fight for equality and promote peace.
