Target: St. Francis County, Arkansas Sheriff Bobby May

Goal: Support justice for three brutally murdered family pets

Two Arkansas duck hunters are being charged after they allegedly killed three cats while hunting. The two men had warrants out for their arrest after they were reported to have shown off their killings on social media pages. They posted disturbing photos of them holding up dead cats like prizes. They are now being charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

William Taylor and Ray Verhoeven were the two suspects that were on police’s radars after going on a duck-hunting trip. In the picture, both men were holding up dead cats and smiling in front of a house. Authorities were able to trace the suspects back to their house, because it was shown in the posted photo. Police officers inspected the photo and determined that the cats were not strays, but actually house pets. After locating the men, authorities found out that the cats belonged to a woman who lived nearby the duck hunting area.

Law enforcement has been heavily utilizing social media to arrest criminals who showcase their crimes, and it has been an extremely effective tool. In Arkansas, animal cruelty is a crime and if convicted the two men will be fined and potentially lose their duck hunting licenses, as well. Taylor has already been arrested on a $25,000 bond, but Verhoeven has not turned himself in yet. They have a pending court date in 2015.

Please sign this petition to praise the officers for finding the hunters and charging them for these crimes.

Dear Sheriff May,

News reports show that two duck hunters were charged with animal cruelty for killing cats. It turned out that the cats were domesticated and these two men allegedly cold-heartedly killed a family’s pets. It is sick that people would murder domesticated animals in this manner. It is also sick that they would parade their killings on social media for the world to see. Thankfully, their move to show off their cats has led to their pending arrests. There are no words to describe how awful of a crime it is to kill domesticated animals that had homes. There are simply no excuses for killing a domesticated animal.

Thank you for all the work that you do to protect animals from criminals who kill for fun and games. If they are found guilty it will be clear that these men acted irresponsibly, and they are now paying the price for killing innocent animals.

  3. They should go to jail for this! They’re nothing but sadistic creeps! What will they want to kill next, children? Lock their sorry azzes up!!

  4. Robert Sloan says:

Hold them accountable. Don’t allow them to get off with a light sentence.

  5. Sheriff May: Thank you for addressing this horrible incident of cat killing. These two disgusting hunters need to be psychologically evaluated besides given a lengthy jail term. I would wonder how many other cats and innocent animals they have targeted and murdered. Such abuse must be punished and punished severely. I am sickened and completely outraged by their actions.
