Target: Bruce Smith, Co-Owner of Pets Plus
Goal: Thank Pets Plus for making the decision to stop selling dogs that have been raised in puppy mills
Pets Plus, a Philadelphia pet store chain, has recently joined the fight against puppy mills and stopped the sale of animals that were raised in these abusive and cruel places. Pets Plus has not only stopped selling puppies bred in these puppy mills, but has also converted almost half of its locations into stores that offer puppies for adoption.
Animals bred and raised in puppy mills are often malnourished and in terrible health due to the horrific conditions of the mills. Pets Plus has refused to support these awful operations and instead is switching over to adopting out animals to give loving dogs a second chance at a happy life. The puppies adopted through Pets Plus must now have background checks and veterinarian reviews. By adopting out animals, Pets Plus is saving many animals from being euthanized. Pets Plus is even working with the Philadelphia SPCA to ensure no animal is needlessly euthanized.
Puppy mills can’t continue to run their operations for long if pet stores like Pets Plus refuse to support their businesses. Sign this petition and thank Pets Plus for joining the movement to end puppy mills.
Dear Mr. Smith,
I understand that you have decided to end your relationships with the puppy mills that once supplied your stores with animals. The animals that come from these horrific mills are often malnourished and in terrible health due to the awful conditions within the facilities. I am also glad that you have chosen to offer animals adoptions for your customers instead of selling dogs commercially.
By adopting out animals to your customers, you are saving the lives of many that would otherwise be euthanized. These loving animals deserve a second chance at a happy life and I appreciate your efforts to help them. Since four of your nine stores are moving away from selling animals from puppy mills and converting to adoption, I hope in the near future, all of your stores in the Philadelphia region will also make the same changes.
It is uplifting to hear about a pet store that truly cares about the lives of animals. I believe that soon, many other pet stores in Philadelphia will also change their relationship with puppy mills. I would like to thank you for all of your efforts to save the lives of so many animals so far, and I hope you decide to continue your great efforts.
