Target: Phoenix Sheriff’s Office Spokesman, Joaquin Enriquez
Goal: Punish man for hosting dog- and cockfighting events at his home
A man has been arrested on suspicion that he has been hosting dogfighting and cockfighting events at his ranch in Phoenix, Arizona. Authorities discovered over 100 animals in horrid condition on Luis Garcia’s property. A number of the animals, including dogs, chickens, roosters, and horses, were found starving.
According to AZ Central News, authorities found dogs confined in small areas of Garcia’s home as well as a deceased dog in another part of the home. Upon close inspection, the animals also showed signs of abuse. This was confirmed to be true after a couple of horses collapsed on the floor while being moved out of the property by animal control officers. The police found a part in the home that was covered with beverage cans and dog leashes, which is where they think the dogfights took place. Regardless of whether or not he hosted these despicable events, Garcia has clearly not treated the animals under his care properly.
Phoenix deputies investigated the home after multiple neighbors complained that a large amount of traffic was regularly coming in and out of Garcia’s ranch. They also complained about loud noises and gunshots heard coming from the property. The high volume of traffic and noise was unusual for the small community. Because Garcia is denying he’s guilty, investigation of his ranch will continue. No matter what, the animals were found in sickening conditions and he should be convicted for animal abuse.
Please sign this petition to punish Luis Garcia for endangering the lives of innocent animals.
Dear Sheriff Enrique,
Thank you for investigating a Phoenix man’s home upon complaints from his neighbors that he might be hosting a dog- and cockfighting business. This investigation has led to the rescue of over 100 animals that have clearly been malnourished and abused by this man. Your team found dogs living in unfit shelters of small cramped areas of his home, horses that collapsed during the rescue, and even a dead animal on the property.
Regardless of whether he will be found guilty of using his animals for fighting events, he is certainly guilty of leaving his animals in unfit living conditions.
Please keep up the good work that you do to keep animals safe from unfit caregivers in Phoenix, Arizona. Punish this man to the full extent of the law for his abuses.
