Target: Chief Paul Blackwell, Tullahoma, Tennessee Police Department
Goal: Find and charge teenagers who shot and hung a wild animal ahead of a football match
A bobcat was found dead, hanging from a goal post in a high school football field. The culprits are suspected to be students from a rival school, who up until now played innocent, good-natured pranks ahead of an annual football match between the two schools. Previous tricks included turning off the sound system during a band performance or placing a toilet in the middle of the field during the week of the game, but this year the prank was carried too far.
The wild bobcat was shot dead before being hung with a rope on a football field at Tullahoma High School, home of the Wildcats. Some of the school’s students were the first to find the dead animal, which they initially thought was stuffed. When they discovered that the bobcat was real, the school called in local authorities to investigate.
So far, though the administration of both schools have condemned the prank, those responsible have not yet been found. If located, the students will likely face charges of animal abuse, hunting during the off-season, and mischief, along with any punishments the school may choose to hand down, such as suspension or expulsion.
Before the perpetrators of this brutal crime are punished, they must be found by school and local authorities. To ensure this type of “prank” does not occur again, it is important that the students who committed it are properly penalized. Sign the petition below to demand that the local authorities do everything within their power to quickly locate and charge the offenders.
Dear Chief Paul Blackwell,
A prank-gone-wrong played by a rival high school against Tullahoma High School resulted in a wild bobcat being killed ahead of an annual football match. The creature was shot before being hung in the school’s football field from a field goal post only to be found by students the following day. Currently, those responsible for this cruel prank remain unknown to both police and school officials.
In order to discourage this type of unacceptable behavior in the future, the police must locate and charge the perpetrators, and the school must also take appropriate actions against them. We, the undersigned, demand that every effort is made by the Tullahoma Police to find and prosecute the teenagers who killed a bobcat and hung its corpse on school grounds.
