Target: CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz
Goal: Offer vegan baked goods to customers
Starbucks is an extremely successful coffee company. With Seattle roots, the company has grown to include stores in almost every corner of the world. Each individual location has loyal customers, consistent drinks and an aromatic, welcoming ambiance. However, there is one thing that many locations do not have: vegan pastry options. Every day more people become interested in, and convert to, a vegan diet. Starbucks does not offer vegan options in every location; in fact, some locations’ baristas are not sure whether or not certain products are vegan. The coffee giant should consistently offer a few vegan options, in every location.
Starbucks is in 65 countries, boasting over 21,000 individual locations. In those 21,000 locations, many already wrapped, to-go foods are vegan, such as select granola bars, dried fruit and nut mixes. The pastries, however, are a different story. A person following a vegan diet can indulge in a Starbucks hazelnut soy latte, though cannot include a muffin or other baked treat in their morning routine at the coffee giant. Allegedly, two of the bagels offered at Starbucks are vegan. Starbucks has a huge influence on many lives; because of this, it should advocate vegan products for the health of its customers and the planet.
Adding a few vegan pastries would be no great chore for such a large corporation. If Starbucks were to ensure that every location has two vegan pastry options available at all times, that would be enough. Ask the CEO of Starbucks to add vegan options to its pastry selection in every location.
Dear Mr. Schultz,
Starbucks has become synonymous with the word ‘coffee’. Your brand has expanded to 65 different countries. The drinks created by Starbucks’ baristas are consistent and well loved by many. Though, there are some improvements that could be made within your 21,000 locations.
Veganism is becoming a way of life for numerous people in all countries. Starbucks consistently offers a couple of vegan bagel options, though it does not offer vegan muffins or pastries. I am writing to encourage change, and to convince you to offer vegan pastries in all locations. All it would take to satisfy most vegans is two or three consistently vegan options with every season change. Vegan pumpkin muffins, coffee cake and brownies would fly off the shelves. Not only would you be satisfying those who wish to follow a vegan diet, you would also become an advocate for the environment and consumer health.
Please seriously consider offering vegan pastry options, in all locations, every day of the year. Your dedication to just causes would not go unnoticed.
