Target: Detective Shawna Baldwin
Goal: Thank authorities for charging a man with animal abuse and denying him bail to protect the public
A Canada resident that is facing over 180 charges of animal abuse for hoarding 92 animals (mostly rabbits) in his home has been denied bail. Anthony Berry from Calgary is being incarcerated to protect the health and safety of the public. These extreme measures had to be taken because he endangered an alarmingly large amount of animals and also assaulted peace officers with a weapon when they visited his home.
Berry was violent when authorities came to seize the animals from his home even threatening to kill the police officers with a knife. The conditions inside his home were shocking and the floors were covered in the animals’ feces and urine. The detective and officers found over 30 rabbits upstairs. Upon further investigation, they found 40 more rabbits living in his basement and some had their limbs missing. The floors of the basement were also covered in animal feces. The animals were rescued and were checked by veterinarians, but they had to euthanize over 20 of the animals because they were in life-threatening pain.
His partner, Christine Berry has been sentenced to the same charges and authorities are working on cleaning up the house.
Please sign this petition to thank the authorities for denying Anthony Berry bail and saving the animals that were in his care.
Dear Det. Shawna Baldwin,
Your team of peace officers and veterinarians were able to access Anthony and Christine Berry’s home and save all of the animals that were suffering from their carelessness. This couple was endangering animals and almost assaulted you and your team when you visited their home. You found so many distressed animals and the veterinarians had to euthanize 20 of the rabbits because they were suffering from living in such horrid conditions.
Thank you for prosecuting this man and his wife with 180 charges of animal cruelty and denying him the right to place bail. A person that is a danger to humans and animals needs to get help. Animal hoarding is a huge problem in our society and it needs to be eliminated. Charging Anthony Berry with animal cruelty and denying him bail is the first step to making that happen. We appreciate the work that you are doing to protect animals in Canada.
