Target: Paducah County Police Chief Brandon L. Barnhill
Goal: Demand an investigation into the mysterious death of William Mickey Neal
William Mickey Neal was only 31 years old when he died of mysterious circumstances during a trip to Kentucky to visit his ex-girlfriend. Neal was found in his car in Paducah County of two gunshot wounds to the head. Law enforcement immediately ruled his death a suicide and are refusing to reopen the case. However, evidence from the scene suggests that this tragic death might have been a murder.
One of the gunshots was done at such an angle that he could not have inflicted it himself. More importantly, there were two gunshot wounds, which means that Neal would have had to shoot himself in the head after already being shot in the head, a near impossible feat. No shell casings were found in the car either. Additionally, a large amount of his cash was missing. The police have possession of Neal’s cellphone and refuse to release its contents to the media.
The police have clearly failed to conduct a proper investigation. Minor ballistics tests were done on Neal, but were not conducted at the scene of the crime, which is standard procedure. Neal’s friends and family are thoroughly convinced that he has been murdered. They also believe that the police have placed a very low priority on the investigation due to his criminal record. No matter Neal’s previous history, it is still the police’s duty to bring justice to the victim and give closure to his family.
Please sign this petition to demand that the Kentucky State Police properly and thoroughly investigate William Neal’s death.
Dear Police Chief Barnhill,
William Mickey Neal died under suspicious and mysterious circumstances during a trip to visit his ex-girlfriend in Kentucky. He was found in Paducah County with two gunshot wounds to his head, and the large sum of cash he brought with him was missing. Very little has been done to solve this case. The strange circumstances suggest that Neal was murdered, but police have quickly dismissed it as a suicide. Nothing at the scene implied suicide or self-harm.
I am asking you to reopen this case and thoroughly investigate it. The responding officers failed to do ballistics tests at the scene of the crime and only did minimal tests on Neal’s body. Although Neal had a criminal history, he was still a beloved member of a family that is desperate for answers. On behalf of Neal’s grieving friends and family, I urge you to give them the closure they deserve.
