Fire Judge Who Brutally Assaulted His Wife

Sad Woman

Target: U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller

Goal: Demand the resignation of the judge who committed horrific domestic violence upon his wife

In August 2014, Judge Mark Fuller was arrested for brutally beating his wife in a hotel room. When the police arrived after she called for help, they found her in tears with lacerations on her face. However, instead of being locked up for injuring and traumatizing an innocent woman, Mark Fuller was made to attend a 24-week domestic violence program and given zero jail time. Worse, the crime will be expunged from his record. It will be as though he never assaulted his wife at all.

Domestic violence has been a serious problem in the US for many years, yet authorities continue to treat abusers with leniency, giving them slaps on the wrist and setting them free to assault more women. In the wake of highly publicized domestic violence cases involving NFL players, the public is finally becoming aware of the seriousness of the issue. We need to ensure that this trend continues by demanding that all perpetrators of domestic violence are punished to the full extent of the law, especially when the abuser is a person who enforces the law.

Don’t let Mark Fuller get away with his abhorrent abuse of his wife just because he’s a judge. As someone who hands down punishment for criminals, he should be held to a high standard when it comes to obeying the law, rather than given special treatment. Furthermore, someone who committed such awful abuse should not be in a position of power that allows him to decide whether other abusers are punished for their crimes. Please demand that Mark Fuller resign by signing this petition.

Dear Judge Fuller,

As a district court judge, it’s your duty to serve as an example of adherence to the law and punish those who break it. When you committed a brutal assault upon your wife, you failed in this duty. You further failed when you accepted a slap on the wrist in the form of a domestic violence intervention program rather than taking the jail time you deserved. Because of this, you have instead become an example to domestic abusers everywhere that they can hurt their partners and get away with it.

As a person who is aware of the widespread domestic violence problem and how many women are injured and killed every year in the US because of it, I demand that you immediately resign your position as U.S. District Court Judge of the Middle District of Alabama. This is your only option if you want to demonstrate to people everywhere that domestic abuse is unacceptable. To keep your position would be to send the message that you believe domestic violence to be an unimportant issue, and that those who commit it should be let off without any kind of actual punishment. Don’t disgrace yourself further.
