Target: President Barack Obama
Goal: Praise the Obama administration for lowering the amount of greenhouse gases produced by companies
Greenhouse gases and human beings are responsible for the rising temperature on our planet. These temperatures create rising sea levels, natural disasters, and other peculiar weather phenomenon. To curb climate change, the Obama administration has acquired promises from various companies to lower or phase out hydrofluorocarbons, a chemical responsible for climate change. The administration should be praised for its work, as this preventative measure will stop global temperatures from rising.
Hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, are used in air conditioning and refrigeration units. HFCs contribute to global warming by trapping heat in the atmosphere. This chemical is stupendous at insulating, and while HFC does disintegrate, it takes 15 years for it to do so. The Obama administration obtained voluntary pledges from companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull, Kroger, Honeywell, and DuPont to either lower their HFCs emissions or use an alternative chemical that is environmentally friendly. The agreement would remove an estimated 700 million metric tons of HFCs from the environment—akin to purging 15 million cars from the road for 10 years.
The Obama administration is also pushing for other countries to adopt measures that will stop global warming. The burning of fossil fuel, such as oil and coal, is only contributing to the problem and the United States is not the only big contributor. Nonetheless, U.S. President Barack Obama should be praised for this action, as preventative measures will help keep global warming at bay.
Dear President Obama,
Recently, your administration obtained voluntary pledges from various high-profile companies to lower their HFCs emissions. I am writing this letter praising your administration for this work, as global warming is a huge problem that the world will have to come together and tackle. I understand that these are voluntary pledges, but I hope in time you or a future president will make this pledge a requirement. As sea levels begin to rise, it will become crucial to monitor all greenhouse gases so our planet’s ecosystem remains balanced.
There are other chemicals responsible for global warming that your administration should address in the near future. Gases such as carbon dioxide are more abundant in the atmosphere and take longer to disintegrate. Please make sure this issue is addressed and continue to monitor the health of our planet. I hope that you will continue to pressure other countries to adopt environmentally friendly measures. This is a global problem that cannot be solved by one country; everyone must come together to preserve our planet.
