Tell Legislators to Support Anti-Pollution Act

Target: President Barack Obama of the United States of America

Goal: Support new legislation that aims to dramatically reduce air pollutants and greenhouse gases

United States senators Susan Collins and Chris Murphy have recently proposed “The Super Pollutants Act of 2014,” a bill that heavily focuses on eliminating harmful greenhouse gases. If approved, global warming could be drastically reduced via new gas emission regulations that will be monitored and reviewed by a special task force. As both the sea level and global temperature continue to rise due to global warming, “The Super Pollutants Act” seems to be the most sensible and effective measure to save the environment.

Though carbon dioxide highly contributes to global warming, conservationist group Sierra Club claims that “Non-carbon dioxide greenhouse pollutants are responsible for up to 40% of global warming.” The aforementioned bill will target these specific contaminants, which are emitted from everyday appliances such as stoves and air conditioners. Sierra Club further estimates that if the United States successfully neutralizes these gases (using technology already at the government’s disposal), “It could reduce the rate of sea level rise by 25% and the rate of temperature increase by almost 50%…” In addition, the atmospheric improvement will vastly decrease pollution-related deaths and crop damage.

“The Super Pollutants Act of 2014” is still in the early stages of being drafted and introduced, after which members of Congress will vote multiple times on whether to pass the legislation. Urge President Obama to show his support of this crucial environmental reform and to encourage Congress to sponsor this bill.

Dear President Obama,

“The Super Pollutants Act of 2014” is a vital piece of legislation that could significantly combat global warming. With non-carbon dioxide pollutants constituting more than 40% of climate change effects, both the sea level and global temperature are rapidly rising with no sign of slowing. The proposed bill would effectively reduce these harmful contaminants and help save the atmosphere. By showing your support, you can lend tremendous momentum to this budding bill and help it pass into law.

The immediate symptoms of global warming are unrelenting and must be addressed promptly. If approved, this bill will use current technology to drastically decrease harmful emissions from everyday appliances such as stoves and air conditioners. Environmentalist group Sierra Club claims this protocol “could reduce the rate of sea level rise by 25% and the rate of temperature increase by almost 50%, while preventing two million premature deaths each year as well as annual crop losses of 30 million tons.”

Though “The Super Pollutants Act” is still in its early stages, your endorsement could mean the difference between approval and rejection. Please, promote this bill and encourage members of Congress to support anti-pollution legislation as well.
