Target: Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue
Goal: Praise bird rescue organization for almost 10 years of service in fostering and rescuing birds
Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue is a nonprofit organization located in California. The organization is dedicated to rescuing companion birds, which are parrot-type or other domesticated birds who have been abused, injured, abandoned, surrendered, or neglected by their previous owners. Hundreds of birds have been taken in by Mickaboo and its collective efforts are made possible with the help of volunteers. The shelter’s primary goals are to ensure that rescued birds have a safe, loving environment with their foster owners and to educate potential and current bird owners on basic bird care to meet the medical, dietary and emotional needs of their birds.
The shelter’s website includes a wealth of knowledge on standard to more advanced bird care information, such as tips on how to encourage more positive bird behavior without the need of negative reinforcement, healthier alternatives to a poor diet (which is especially helpful for the pickiest of budgerigars), medical advice, and a list of recommended avian veterinarians. Not only does Mickaboo offer such an informative website, but it also provides free bird care classes several times throughout the year, proving the organization’s dedication to helping others become better bird owners.

Dear Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue Staff,
Thank you for your time and dedication spent running Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue for almost 10 years. Even with limited resources, you always try your hardest to accommodate as many homeless companion birds as possible. Additionally, you do not rehome these birds to just any family. You spend even more time making sure they are compatible with their potential new owners. The shelter’s bird care classes also ensure that new owners will be aware of just what they are signing up for when adopting a bird. The effort that your volunteers make to confirm that the birds will be well taken care of is admirable and deserves recognition.
Hundreds of birds now have a second chance with their new homes thanks to your organization. I hope that Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue will continue to thrive and expand for decades to come. Thank you again for your sincere efforts to improve the lives of abandoned companion birds.
