Target: Kentucky State University President Raymond Burse
Goal: Praise University President Raymond Burse for taking a pay cut to raise the wages of the low-wage university workers.
In colleges and universities across the country, employess are receiving considerably low wages while executives are getting salaries that are tremendously greater than they can use or even necessarily deserve. Kentucky State University President is aware of this and has decided to take a pay cut to more adequately pay his universities lower-waged employees; a noble action which deserves tremendous praise.
President of Kentucky State University Raymond Burse who has a six digit salary decided to forfeit 90,000 of his yearly pay so that his low wage workers could all get a pay raise to $10.25 an hour. The University says that they will maintain these wages even when a new president is selected and will use it as the basis to hiring new employees.
Burse claims that he did not do it for publicity or as a jab to other college executives, but this action deserves to be highly publicized to set standards and expectations for other colleges to fix the pay gap between high and low paid workers. Over forty university presidents in America make over one million dollars in a year while the lowest paid workers are receiving minimum wage. There are systematic flaws in the pay of college and universities’ employees and hopefully, Burse’s generous actions will raise awareness on this issue and result in other colleges and universities making similar efforts.
Please sign the petition below to thank Raymond Burse for his generous and influential actions of taking a pay cut to support his low-paid employees.
Dear Raymond Burse,
Your recent decision to take a pay cut to increase the wages of your universities low-paid employees is extremely noble and deserves the highest praise. Although you said you did not make this decision for publicity reasons, it is important that this event does get publicity to raise awareness about the extreme pay gap issues between high and low paid employees at colleges and universities.

In many cases, the high executives are paid more than they can use or even necessarily deserve. There are systematic flaws in the pay of college and universities’ employees and hopefully your generous actions will raise awareness on this issue and result in other colleges and universities making similar efforts. Thank you for your selfless and noble actions.
