Target: Raymond V. Tamasi, President/CEO of Gosnold Addiction Healthcare Provider
Goal: Praise an innovative healthcare program for assisting patients effectively
Recently, an addiction healthcare provider was recognized for its revolutionary work on treating drug and alcohol addiction patients. The relapse rate for patients who check-in at this center is significantly lower than traditional rehabilitation centers’ rates, due to its innovative new pilot program for combating addiction problems.
Gosnold Center in Cape Cod, Massachusettes, has been providing healthcare for over 40 years. Through a new pilot program run by Gosnold, patients with drug and alcohol abuse have seen promising results. The workers at Gosnold view addiction as a disease that one deals with for life. With this mind-set, the coaches at the center teach their patients to treat their addiction as they would a life-long condition such as hypertension or diabetes.
One youth who is currently enrolled in the program shares his sentiments about the center in Cape Cod. Prior to enrolling at Gosnold, Jeremy Wurzburg had undergone a traditional heroin treatment program, only to relapse just a week after the program ended. Most recovery programs do not prepare newly discharged patients for combating intense addictions on their own after leaving rehabilitation facilities. However, since joining the program at Gosnold, Jeremy has had a much more successful journey so far.
The conditions of the program are that the participant must live in a drug-and-alcohol-free household, attend daily twelve-step group meetings, and receive individual counseling. The participant also has daily and sometimes hourly help from a recovery coach. Coaches at Gosnold get very involved with the program participants, even spending time with the patients outside of the facility.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, over $600 billion is spent annually on costs related to crime and healthcare issues from tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs in the United States. Gosnold helps to alleviate costs related to drug and alcohol abuse by treating the patients for effective long-term recovery. According to Raymond Tamasi, the director of Gosnold, the program has saved the state around 37% of overall costs, since the number of patients being admitted to rehabilitation centers has dropped.
Please sign the petition below to praise the great work that the Gosnold Addiction Healthcare Provider contributes to society by effectively treating and teaching individuals with drug and alcohol addiction.
Dear Raymond V. Tamasi,
It was heartening to read about the successful drug and alcohol addiction treatment program at Gosnold on Cape Cod. Drug and alcohol addiction is a severe problem in the United States, and oftentimes it is difficult for addicts to find resourceful and effective programs to combat their addictions.
The revolutionary program’s innovative approach in dealing with drug and alcohol addiction as a life-long disease that demands long-term treatment commitments certainly proves to be effective, in contrast to the short-term goals that traditional rehabilitation programs utilize.
Thank you for helping to make a difference in society. I look forward to hearing more success stories from participants in the program at Gosnold. Please continue with the operation of and even expansion of the program.
