Target: Queens District Attorney
Goal: Punish Addison Holder and Keisha Hall for abusing 20 dogs suspected of being used for animal fighting
New York police officials found 20 emaciated dogs during a raid on a Queens home suspected of being a training ground and arena for dog fighting. According to court papers, five of the dogs were discovered with “large, weighted collars around their necks with large chains attached to their collars” while the remaining dogs were found in cages kept in the garage. There was no food or water anywhere near the dogs. Rather, only equipment associated with dog fighting were kept near them such as a square pit used to train the dogs, a large battery connected to electrical wires, weighted harnesses used to build muscle, and chunks of wood as well as a treadmill smeared with blood. There was also some type of a concrete cover that blocked all light from entering the garage.
Holder (44) and Hall (33) were both taken into custody after the raid and held on $100,000 bail. Meanwhile, the rescued dogs have been transported to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) where they will be undergoing treatment and behavior rehabilitation, which includes care and socialization enrichment with trained animal behaviorists. Matthew Bershadker, CEO of the ASPCA, stated, “Organized dog fighting is a brutal form of animal abuse where dogs are exploited and forced to fight as their owners profit from their torture. Through our partnership, the ASPCA and NYPD are determined to protect New York City’s animals from this form of cruelty and bring their abusers to justice.”
Please sign this petition to implore the Queens District Attorney to enact harsh punishment on Holder and Hall.
Dear Queens District Attorney,
The raid on a home in Queens suspected of dog-fighting yielded horrifying results: 20 dogs were discovered to be abused, neglected, and forcibly prepared to participate in animal fighting. This “sport” is barbaric and inhumane and people who partake in such activities should be dealt the maximum form of punishment available. Holder and Hall deserve no sympathy or leniency.
Make an example out of these two criminals to discourage other potential dog fighting trainers from starting or continuing their own arenas. The 20 dogs removed from this arena were at least lucky to have been rescued, but there are so many more that are suffering in silence. Please help protect all innocent animals from living this tragic lifestyle.
