Applaud Funding of Life-Saving Ebola Education in Africa

Target: Peter Coleman, head of Liberia’s Senate Committee on Health

Goal: Commend aggressive funding to educate the people of Africa about Ebola

Africa is in the midst of its worst Ebola outbreak in recorded history. More than 700 people in Africa have died from this perilous disease, with no end in sight. While two American’s have been removed from Africa in order to be treated in the United States, most African people do not have the luxury of technological medical advances. Shockingly, many infected people do not care to use such advances when given the opportunity due to lack of education about the disease and cures.

Education is a major ally for the Ebola outbreak. The remote communities affected by the Ebola outbreak are detrimentally superstitious of western medicine. The majority of individuals within these communities hold an assortment of dangerous beliefs about Ebola, such as the disease does not exist and that westerners have invented the disease. Witch doctors within the communities frown upon enlisting the help of western doctors or medicine, leading to life-threatening issues, as well as infected persons spreading bodily fluid to healthy people due to close contact before or after death. 300 people have been infected with Ebola in Liberia alone; over 1,000 people are assuredly infected throughout three countries in eastern Africa.

The three majorly influenced countries-Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea- have agreed upon a 100 million dollar emergency action plan to spread education through the infected eastern part of Africa, as well as deploy more health officials to help those willing to accept treatment. Because many communities within these countries have no access to television or radio, the campaign is planning on spreading knowledge by foot- door to door, village to village.

Applaud this amazing effort to save lives and help stop the spread of Ebola. Encourage more funding of this manner until no one is infected.

Dear Peter Coleman,

Ebola is spreading through eastern Africa like wildfire. Over 1,000 people have become infected with the disease, 700 perished. These numbers are terrifying and tragic. The very unfortunate issue of this epidemic is the fact that so many people within the affected regions are severely superstitious of western medicine and doctors. However, with the help of the newly arranged 100 million dollar emergency action plan, the end of this outbreak is possible.

Thank you for insisting on a campaign to reach the communities affected by Ebola. Your dedication and desire to deliver education to each individual’s door is outstanding and brilliant. Because of the collaboration of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, as well as your dedication to deliver dire education, east Africa will have a fighting chance of beating this outbreak. People in desperate need will be convinced to see a doctor and change their circumstances.

Please continue to fight for the people of Africa. They are very lucky to have your incredible dedication.
