Target: Non-Profit Organization, Rest in His Arms
Goal: Thank a not-for-profit group for giving a neglected baby a proper funeral
A seven-month-old baby was found dead in a dark, dank apartment in Chicago. The baby’s parents were accused of starving their baby to death. A funeral was recently held to commemorate the baby’s short life.
Mya Edwards and her twin were only infants when their parents, Markisha Jones and Gene Edwards, switched them from baby formula to just water, cereal, and baby food. This caused Mya to starve and die, while her twin managed to survive despite being severely starved.
All aspects of Mya Edwards’s funeral were funded with donations through a not-for-profit organization called “Rest In His Arms.” This organization is dedicated to providing abandoned babies with Christian funerals and burials in the Chicago area, to ensure that the innocent lives are not forgotten. According to the organization’s website, “Rest in His Arms” has been conducting funerals for infants since the year 2005, and Mya is the 33rd baby who was commemorated through the organization. At Mya’s funeral, 150 strangers showed up, despite not knowing the infant, to show how much they cared for the baby girl.
According to Child Help, a national non-for-profit organization, “The United States has one of the worst [child abuse] records…losing on average between four and seven children every day to child abuse and neglect”. Although much effort has been initiated to combat the issue of child abuse and neglect, little is done to commemorate the precious lives that are lost. Acknowledging the lives of neglected infants and children are essential to the overall cause against child abuse and neglect.
Please sign the petition below to thank the non-profit organization “Rest In His Arms” for arranging a proper funeral for the little infant that was starved to death. Remembering lives of abused infants and children is essential to not only commemorate their precious lives, but also to raise public awareness about child abuse.
Dear Rest in His Arms Staff,
Child abuse is unfortunately quite common in the United States, and cases of child abuse are uncovered on a daily basis. However, it is always shocking to read about individual cases of child neglect, such as that inflicted by the parents of Mya Edwards.
Thank you for arranging a proper funeral for this little angel who suffered in the hands of cruel and neglectful parents. Your work undoubtedly raises awareness and inspires countless others to take action against infant abuse.
