Target: Fred P. Hochberg, Chairman and President of the US Export-Import Bank
Goal: Support the US Export-Import Bank’s massive funding of renewable energy projects in the US and overseas
The US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) is fostering an honorable reputation by massively funding and supporting clean energy. Ex-Im Bank has struggled in the past with its funding habits; though, through recent actions, the company has shown its growing dedication to a clean energy future, in the United States and abroad. The Ex-Im Bank purposefully seeks out promising clean-energy projects with low funding, attracting private funding to the projects, in turn boosting the projects’ success rates. In a two-year period, Ex-Im Bank contributed over one billion dollars to clean energy projects around the globe.
Within its history of bad decisions, Ex-Im Bank aggressively supported liquefied natural gas export terminals in the fragile Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Natural gas may be touted as clean energy by some; however, the product is a fossil fuel, meaning it contributes to climate change. The Ex-Im Bank does support truly clean energy and has learned from criticism of its past funding. The bank is transparent and passionate about its carbon footprint and would benefit from a citizen approval of its support for truly clean energy, such as solar and wind power.
Ex-Im Bank has actively funded solar power systems from California for the past few years, transporting these systems to India to fuel the country’s clean-energy future. The company is making mass improvements to the future of clean energy. Applaud Ex-Im bank’s promotion of clean energy all over the globe; with this support, you urge the bank to invest in only truly clean energy, leaving fossil fuels undisturbed within the ground.
Dear Fred P. Hochberg,
I am writing to commend the Export-Import Bank for its dedication to a clean-energy future. The bank has attracted funding to underfunded clean-energy projects, as well as brought clean-energy alternatives to countries all around the globe. I personally advocate for clean-energy projects similar to the one found in India: Since 2010, Ex-Im Bank has dedicated millions of dollars to solar power within India, paving the way for a healthy, future India.
Mr. Hochberg, I ask that you abandon all fossil fuel “clean energy” and dedicate all of Ex-Im Bank’s resources to truly clean-energy sources, not unlike the project in India. Fossil fuels are active contributors to climate change; natural gas is a fossil fuel. I understand that your company values transparency and strives to be a leader, paving the way for a healthy future.
I appreciate Ex-Im Bank’s intense obligation to the future of planet Earth. Please continue to support the planet in solely beneficial ways.
