Close One of the Worst Dog Breeding Facilities in the Country

Target: New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Goal: Demand one of the worst dog breeding facilities in the country be shut down by authorities and the suffering dogs there be surrendered to a rescue

Marjorie’s Kennel is a Keeshond dog breeding facility in Harpursville, New York that was named on the Humane Society of the United States’ list of 100 worst puppy mills in the country. Deplorable living conditions and severe neglect are prevalent at the facility, and the owner recently went back on her word to allow a local rescue to take in these poor creatures. It is the government’s responsibility to take immediate action and intervene on behalf of these suffering animals.

Rescue workers from a local Keeshond rescue spent the last 8 months attempting to work with the owner of the facility to remove the suffering animals, and have saved 60 dogs during that time. However, many dogs still remain at the facility and the owner has allegedly abruptly stopped cooperating.

Rescue workers report that the dogs are living in outdoor pens with broken concrete and no protection from the scorching summer sun or freezing winter snow. They also report that newborn puppies have been left outside during the winter to nearly freeze to death, only to be brought inside and burned by incorrectly used heat lamps. Because of their burns, the puppies were allegedly neglected after they could no longer make a profit. Countless female dogs are also allegedly born with damaged hind legs from improper breeding practices and can barely support their own weight, yet are being forced to bear litters year after year. Urge New York’s governor to end the suffering of these innocent animals by intervening immediately and shutting down the facility.

Dear Governor Cuomo,

I am shocked by the allegedly deplorable living conditions and cruel treatment of dogs at a breeding facility called Marjorie’s Kennel in Harpursville, New York. Workers from a local dog rescue have been working with the owner and taken in 60 dogs, but report that the owner recently went back on her word to cooperate.

Rescue workers report appalling living conditions at the kennel, including year-round outdoor pens with no protection from extreme weather conditions in the winter or summer and dangerous broken concrete floors. Puppies have also allegedly been burned by heat lamps after nearly freezing to death outside in the winter and then carelessly placed under the lamps improperly. Poor breeding practices have also lead to reports of numerous female dogs being born with damaged hind legs that can barely support their body weight, yet they are forced to bear litters year after year to make a profit.

I implore you to take immediate action and request the proper authorities investigate this cruel facility. Your prompt attention to this matter would help end the suffering of the dogs still living there and prevent the suffering of more dogs in the future.
