Target: Taylor Haynes, Wyoming gubernatorial candidate
Goal: Prevent oil drilling in one of North America’s most treasured natural areas
Yellowstone National Park is known worldwide for its stunningly beautiful geographic features, its huge concentration of geysers, and its wide variety of wildlife. However, if Wyoming elects Republican Taylor Haynes for governor, the entire state of Wyoming including Yellowstone could become open to oil drilling and mining.
Yellowstone National Park was the first national park in the world. It contains half of the world’s geothermal features and two-thirds of the world’s geysers. This region is undoubtedly an incredible natural wonder of the earth, and corrupting it with human greed in the form of oil drilling would be an appallingly tragic loss.
It is clear that a majority of voters support the conservation of Yellowstone and that oil drilling would forever defile one of our most iconic natural preserves. Also, Yellowstone has been termed a supervolcano and sits atop a chamber of magma 37 miles long. Oil drilling or mining in Yellowstone could cause hugely devastating effects for North America and possibly the whole world.
Please sign the petition to urge gubernatorial hopeful Taylor Haynes to change his views on oil drilling in Yellowstone National Park.
Dear Taylor Haynes,
Yellowstone National Park is a world famous natural preserve and one of the most geographically unique regions on Earth. With half of the world’s geothermal features as well as some of the most breathtaking landscapes on the continent, Yellowstone deserves its place as the world’s first national park. If this region is opened up for oil drilling and mining, Yellowstone will never be the same.
Yellowstone Caldera is the largest volcanic system in North America. Drilling into Yellowstone could bring about massive eruptions and ash clouds that would devastate an enormous area of land and all the people living on it.
If not even America’s most iconic natural preserve is exempt from oil drilling and mining, then where do we draw the line?
Please reconsider your stance on oil drilling and mining in Yellowstone National Park and the world will thank you.
