Target: Gubernatorial Candidate Taylor Haynes
Goal: End effort to give all protected lands to states for drilling, mining, logging, and other exploitative practices
The beautiful forests of national parks are being threatened by Republican efforts to allow drilling, mining, and logging in those areas. Pristine landscapes may be annihilated by human-created environmental destruction. Republican Taylor Haynes wishes to give all national parks over to states and allow them to sell the land to corporations aiming to gobble up natural resources without any restrictions.
Haynes is the gubernatorial candidate for Wyoming, competing against fellow Republican incumbent Governor Matt Mead. While Gov. Mead is less willing, the possibility to open up Wyoming’s lands to state and corporate ownership is still on the table. Wyoming’s lands would all be given to the state and, as ThinkProgress.org reports, Haynes would kick out any federal employees seeking to protect the land. Once states had full ownership and control over those federal parks and forests, the land would be opened up to commercial drilling, mining, and grazing. Haynes even said that he would put national parks and monuments up for auction.
This blatant disregard for nature is indicative of Haynes’ inability to uphold and protect landscapes in a manner consistent with environmental groups’ suggestions. If Haynes becomes governor, all of Wyoming may be subject to complete environmental destruction and land corruption. Tell Republican Taylor Haynes to end his campaign to destroy Wyoming’s beautiful landscape.
Dear Mr. Haynes,
I recently learned of your plans to utterly destroy Wyoming’s landscapes if your current gubernatorial campaign is successful. Your wish to reclaim all land for states and lease it out to corporations is dangerous and destructive to all the natural habitats in the area. Many environmentalists are against this plan and describe the global climate consequences of your actions. Even your argument that the Constitution does not allow the federal government to own land has been refuted by Phil Roberts, a history scholar.
Yellowstone National Park is an extremely popular area that families from all across the world can come and enjoy. If you continue your plan for environmental destruction, you will lose many supporters and eradicate the beautiful landscapes that your state is known for. Please end this disgusting proposal to give Wyoming’s natural lands to states and allow corporations to violate these pristine, protected lands.
