Demand Justice for Teen Victims of ‘Viral’ Sexual Assault

End Rape

Target: Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland, Jr.

Goal: Arrest rapists who posted videos and pictures of sexual assaults on social media

An incredibly courageous girl has come forward about her alleged rape, which she didn’t even know about until videos and photos of the incident went viral. Now, 16-year-old Jada’s family is claiming that the same group of perpetrators victimized other girls. Demand that the Houston Police Department take immediate action against these serial rapists before they attack again.

When Jada went to a friend of a friend’s house party in Houston, she didn’t expect her traumatic night to end up on her own social media feed. She claims that she was given a spiked drink, passed out, and doesn’t remember anything else that happened. When her abusers posted explicit videos and pictures of her on Twitter, including photos of her lying unconscious and unclothed on the floor, she knew that she had been raped.

To add insult to injury, Jada continues to suffer from social media harassment. Complete strangers have posted mocking images of themselves imitating Jada passed out on the floor with the hashtag #Jadapose. Others have thrown their support against one of the alleged perpetrators who is still at large on Twitter claiming his innocence and defending his actions.

According to Jada’s family, the alleged perpetrators have posted videos and pictures of them assaulting other unconscious girls who have yet to be identified. In an age where cyberbulling is common and social media forces victims to relive their traumas again and again, this extremely upsetting story is all too familiar. Fortunately there has been a backlash of supporters taking over the #Jadapose hashtag as well as creating others like #SupportJada and #JadaCounterpose. But the fight doesn’t end there.

Sign this petition to urge the Houston Police Department to take action against the perpetrators for committing rape and distributing child pornography via social media.

Dear Chief McClelland,

I am shocked and deeply disturbed by the sexual assault of 16-year-old Jada that went viral after her alleged rapists shared pictures and video of the attack on social media. Now, her family is claiming that the same group of perpetrators has also sexually assaulted a number of other girls, including one of Jada’s friends that same night. Put these criminals behind bars before they commit any more heinous acts against other teen girls.

Until pictures and videos of her assault started showing up on her social media feeds, Jada didn’t even know that she had been raped. She alleges that she went to a house party only for someone to drug her drink before falling unconscious for the rest of the night. The horrifying results have been shared with her family, classmates, and even complete strangers over social media.

Her rapists took away her choice and have tried to take away her dignity. With the recent events at Steubenville and other places across the United States, viral sexual assaults of teen girls have become all too familiar a narrative. It must end now. Arrest these perpetrators on the charges of rape and distribution of child pornography, and take a stand against America’s pervasive and disempowering rape culture.
