Commend Actor for Donating to Education

Target: Seth MacFarlane

Goal: Thank the well-known voice actor for helping to provide valuable education and promote reading

Seth MacFarlane recently proved that he cares about education and reading. The often controversial voice actor has pledged to match up to $1 million of Kickstarter donations with the goal of reincarnating Reading Rainbow into an online web series. Due to MacFarlane’s generosity, the PBS-born educational show, Reading Rainbow, will once again provide valuable education and promote reading to 75,000 classrooms around the world.

From 1983 to 2006, Reading Rainbow held a spot on PBS, advocating reading and offering a unique educational experience for children of all ages. In 2012, LeVar Burton, the host of Reading Rainbow, gave the show life again by releasing an app inspired by the late show, accessible by tablet. However, Burton understood that not everyone was able to access a tablet. To conquer this problem, Burton launched a Kickstarter donation page to fund a web series of Reading Rainbow, an educational platform for teachers and students. The fund has experienced a lack of support, leading MacFarlane to generously pledge to match donations so the show may once again become a fun, yet educational, tool for children.

MacFarlane’s generous donation will undoubtedly boost the success of Burton’s Kickstarter campaign. Reading Rainbow will once again touch the imaginations of children all over the world. Applaud MacFarlane’s dedication to reading and education, and encourage him to continue supporting this noble cause.

Dear Seth MacFarlane,

The popular 1980’s educational television show, Reading Rainbow, will live once again, thanks to your generous pledge to match funds. As anyone who was a child during the show’s time on cable can attest, Reading Rainbow is a unique platform for education, as well as a valuable advocate for the importance of reading.

The show has evolved appropriately, even after its cancellation in 2006. Having been introduced in app form for tablet, along with promising prospects of becoming a web series that is accessible by students and teachers, Reading Rainbow will touch the lives of many people for years to come. The ability to reach an estimated 75,000 classrooms, delivering interesting stories and an excitement for reading, is priceless. Thank you, Mr. MacFarlane, for generously pledging to match donations, as well as believing in the power of delving into a good book.
