Target: Zack Francom
Goal: Thank boy who is raising money to purchase wheelchairs for people in developing countries
For over four years, a 12-year-old boy named Zack Francom from Utah has been selling baked goods and lemonade at his yearly ‘Zack’s Shack’ to purchase wheelchairs for individuals in developing countries who otherwise can’t afford to buy one. Along with support from his local community, hundreds of people get in line outside of his home every April to buy his treats. With this amount of support, he has been able to give more than 300 wheelchairs to people who would otherwise be crawling because they do not have enough money to buy one.
According to Yahoo News, his philanthropy work started in 2010 when Zack’s school held a fundraiser to buy one wheelchair for a Mormon charity. After that fundraiser, he decided he wanted to do more to help. With his parent’s guidance, Zack held his own lemonade stand and was able to raise money for another wheelchair. In 2014, Zack sold over 4,000 cookies and raised over 5,000 dollars. He was able to buy 37 basic wheelchairs for people in Guam and Guatemala. In these countries, a wheelchair usually means having to save up a whole year’s salary. Zack has made their lives better by donating his time and hard earned money to helping people who need it the most.
In interviews, Zack has said that he wants other children to follow in his footsteps and start their own lemonade stand to help people in developing countries. Please sign this petition to give our thanks to Zack for helping disabled people all over the world.
