Success: Applaud Teen’s Completion of 70 Mile Trek

Target: Liam Tarburn, teen who raised money for soldiers

Goal: Applaud teen for completing charity trek

Liam Tarburn, a 15-year-old cadet from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, was committed to completing a 70 mile charity walk to raise donations for the Parachute Regiment Charity. On June 22nd, Liam completed the trek, and had raised a large sum of donations for the charity organization.

Liam had thought of this unique fund-raising campaign in order to commemorate the soldiers who were involved with D-Day. Each mile of the 70 mile trek represents each year that has passed since D-Day.

In addition to successfully completing the 70 mile walk, Liam had raised more than £2,000 ($3,406.9) for the charity, which is immensely more than his targeted goal of £1,500 ($2,555). These funds will go toward assisting wounded soldiers and aiding families of soldiers killed in service.

Many various fund-raising opportunities exist for individuals wishing to contribute to innumerable causes. However, not many individuals go out of their way to create their own unique venues for fund-raising. Liam has reflected his gratitude to the soldiers involved with D-Day through his own unique fund-raising campaign. This ForceChange petition was written to applaud Liam’s plan to set out on his charity trek, and this goal was successfully completed. Please sign the petition below to applaud the valiant efforts of Liam Tarburn for successfully completing the 70 mile trek, and for raising above and beyond his original target donation goal.

Dear Liam Tarburn,

Congratulations for completing the 70 mile charity trek that you had organized yourself to raise funds for the Parachute Regiment Charity. Coming up with your own unique way to commemorate the soldiers and their families is truly admirable.

I applaud your efforts in successfully raising more than your intended target goal for the Parachute Regiment Charity. The funds that you have raised will surely cause a positive impact on the individuals in need, in addition to inspiring others to donate to this great cause as well. Even though your charity campaign has successfully ended, the impact that your campaign has on others will be forever lasting.

Just had a read of this and I am truly touched by your response to my fundraiser I did 2 years ago.

The service men and woman who sacrificed their lives, whether it be in the literal or metaphorical sense, deserve to be remembered and commemorated at every opportunity. I can only hope that I have achieved in inspiring others to thank our heroes in anyway they can.

I thank every single one of you who have signed this letter, it has proved to me that there is a continuing widespread support of our past, current and future heroes. Although I feel that what I did was insignificant in comparison to the many supporters of my fundraising event.

So, I feel it is appropriate to applaud you, the 45 who signed this letter and every supporter of this cause instead. Your support and encouragement has inspired me to continue work for as many worthwhile causes as I can find.

Thank you so much for your recognition.

    Liam Tarburn
