Goal: Thank activist for providing educational opportunities to refugee children
The country of Israel has been home to many South Sudanese refugees since their home country of Sudan was in turmoil. Recently, however, Israel has been pushing to get rid of many of the African migrants. The Israeli activist Rami Gudovitch, has been helping school-aged kids to relocate and to receive sponsorships for education in Uganda.
Internal strife within the country of South Sudan has been an ongoing issue for quite some time. The citizens of this country, notably younger children, are especially affected by the country’s turmoil. When a country is constantly in conflict with political violence and rights abuses, it makes it difficult for children to consistently attend school and obtain a proper education. Even after citizens of South Sudan have migrated from their troubled country to Israel, they have been facing tension with the government wanting the African refugees to leave.
Activist Rami Gudovitch has been serving as a father figure to many of the South Sudanese students whom he has been aiding. He had first worked to prevent the deportation of the students from Israel, and is currently working to provide the students with sponsorships for their education in Uganda. Approximately 70 students have been deported to Kampala, Uganda, where they currently are living and they each are receiving around $1,000 from Israeli benefactors for their school tuition at private boarding schools.
Although the refugee students still have a lot of struggles ahead of them, such as not being able to speak their native language and having to quickly learn English, the students have a great opportunity for completing their education in Kampala, Uganda. Rami Gudovitch has been working hard to assist these kids in getting acclimated to their new lives and in getting a chance to succeed educationally. Please sign the petition below to applaud the great work that Gudovitch has been contributing to the children affected by the conflicts occurring in their home country.
Dear Rami Gudovitch,
Thank you very much for the great work you are contributing to many South Sudanese school-aged kids. These kids have been through a lot, going through being deported from their home country and being forced to leave by their second home country. Most of these kids have had to leave their families behind and need all the support they can get to successfully complete their education. Because of the admirable effort you have put into getting sponsorships for these students, many of these students are able to successfully continue and complete their education.
Thank you again for being such an inspirational model for the refugee effort. I look forward to hearing and reading about the improvements in these kids’ lives.
