Target: Governor of Connecticut Dannel P. Malloy
Goal: Praise states for advancing zero-emission vehicles
Eight states are working together to get more zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025. This action plan will bring plenty of benefits to our environment and to our wallets. If successful, this plan will improve our air quality and help get as many as 3 million zero-emission cars on our roads.
A zero-emission vehicle is one that runs on electricity, hydrogen, or plug-in hybrids. Manufacturers currently offer two dozen models of these vehicles, stark in comparison to the number of fossil fuel vehicles available on the market.
Connecticut, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont are participating in the plan. The eight states account for one quarter of car sales in the United States. They will work together to develop infrastructure, codes and policies, and to strengthen consumer demand for zero-emission cars. The states will also work on expanding a network of electrical fueling stations and help to develop a hydrogen infrastructure.
Other key aspects of the plan include increasing the number of zero-emission vehicles used in private and government fleets, and removing barriers to using refueling stations. It will also promote workplace charging units and promote general accessibility. Electrical and hydrogen charging stations are currently few and scattered.
There are already 200,000 zero-emission cars in the nation and this plan is hoping to increase that amount. If you support a greener environment and want to see car pollution go away, please sign this petition.
Dear Governor Malloy,
I am writing this letter to thank you and representatives from the seven other states working together you to advance zero-emission vehicles to our country. While electrical and plug-in hybrids are being produced, not enough of them are on the road. Zero-emission cars will contribute to a cleaner atmosphere and ensure that our cities and trees don’t suffer from pollution. What’s more our climate is swiftly changing. We are in the 21st century and we shouldn’t be relying on fossil fuels anymore.
I sincerely hope that this action plan will make zero-emission vehicles even more popular. I dream of the day when I can drive on the highway and see lanes full of electrical, hydrogen, and plug-in hybrids. While I’m sure this plan will be challenging to implement, please plow forward. Work with your colleagues to ensure that hybrid cars can become more numerous on our roads.
