Target: Bud E. Alldredge, Jr., DVM, President of the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners
Goal: Permanently disbar a cruel veterinarian who kept a family’s dog alive in deplorable conditions to use it for blood transfusions
Marian Harris and her family, including her young son, brought their 5-year-old Leonberger named Sid back to the Camp Bowie Animal Clinic when he had difficulty walking after a procedure performed by that same clinic. The family was told that their dog was in deteriorating health and had to be put down. They said their goodbyes, and agreed to let the vet bury Sid in the clinic’s farm.
Six months later the family received a call from a vet technician at the animal clinic informing them that, shockingly, Sid was still alive and being kept in deplorable, abusive kenneling conditions. For all that time while his family thought he had been humanely euthanized Sid was sitting in his own filth, his body used for blood transfusions for other dogs at the clinic. He developed mange and showed other physical evidence of abuse and neglect.
Since these crimes were brought to light the main vet at the clinic, Dr. Lou Tierce, has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty and five other dogs in his care have been discovered in the same inhumane conditions. This is an incredible breach of the trust between veterinarians and the families who come to them to help care for their most vulnerable family members.
A person who is capable of this kind of horrific cruelty and outright betrayal should not be allowed to practice animal medicine. The temporary suspension of Dr. Tierce’s license does not go far enough. Demand that the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners permanently disbar this cruel veterinarian for his alleged despicable abuse of helpless family pets.
Dear Dr. Bud E. Alldredge, Jr.,
Recently Dr. Lou Tierce of the Camp Bowie Animal Clinic was charged following the outright betrayal of his customers and horrific abuse against the animals in his care. In one instance he kept Sid, a five-year-old Leonberger, in deplorable conditions and used him for blood transfusions. Sid was kenneled in his own filth and developed mange while his family thought that he had been humanely euthanized and buried at the clinic’s farm. What a horrible, sickening shock to the family to realize that their beloved family pet had actually been tortured for six months.
This doctor does not deserve the honor of being called a veterinarian. What he did was unforgivable, monstrous and inhumane: abusively kenneling animals in their own filth, causing them to develop curable, treatable diseases while using their bodies for medical harvest. I urge you to permanently disbar Dr. Lou Tierce for his deplorable actions.
