Support Protecting Exotic Animals in Entertainment

Target: Representative Jim Moran

Goal: Support the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act that will end the use of wild animals in traveling circuses

Currently, there are about 300 wild animals being carted around America and forced to perform for an audience. Representative Jim Moran introduced the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act, a bill designed to finally free these exotic animals. A series of undercover investigations and reports have confirmed that circus animals are consistently abused and travel in inhumane living conditions. These cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, lions, and more, do not deserve cages and beatings. They deserve wild, open spaces in their natural habitats. Sign this petition to support Rep. Moran’s proposed act and help save these exotic animals from paying the ultimate price for the public’s entertainment.

The inhumane conditions these animals suffer can range from food being withheld to a beating from a circus trainer. There have been over 30 reported incidents since 2000 involving the deaths of circus animals, the trainers, or even audience members. While animals have been commonplace in circuses for years, it isn’t possible for a circus to provide animals with what they need to be both physically and psychologically healthy. These exotic creatures are simply meant to be in the wild.

A growing number of cities and states have already taken action to make it illegal for wild animals to perform, but it isn’t enough. Given the mobile nature of circuses, enforcing these laws or following up on violations is nearly impossible. These animals need protection in every city, not just in areas with progressive citizens. Sign the petition to support the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act and help save these beautiful, exotic creatures from a lifetime of cages and inhumane treatment.

Dear Representative Jim Moran,

I recently heard about your reintroduction of the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act. I applaud your determination to protect wild animals forced into the circus and instead allow them to remain in their natural habitats. As studies have shown, it is simply impossible for a circus to provide an animal with everything it needs to be psychologically and physically healthy. Forcing animals to perform for the public’s entertainment is inhumane and must stop now.

Thank you for bringing this situation to the public’s attention once more. There have already been 30 reported incidents of death involving circus animals, trainers, and audience members in the last 14 years. How many more deaths will it take for people to realize that these animals don’t belong in circuses? Hopefully the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act passes into law to protect American citizens and finally grant freedom to these exotic animals.

Let’s not forget the domestic animals forced to perform at circuses.

They have to stop using animals for entertainment not requesting “protection”. End all kinds of animal business, they are not our property, they are ours to protect!!
